No - I've said I don't want him since the first time it was discussed here.Originally posted by Peter_Griffin View PostErmmm why? Are you judging him after his 5th game with Villa or something else?
I’m not advocating he manages us after Klopp unless he’s the best available option.
Curious….
Aside from the fact away fans would sing that song all game and do my head in I think he'd be a ****ing disaster.Glass Half Full

Douglas Luiz - was playing for Brazil pre Covid and he was one of the guys who have a bad dose of it. Only getting back to his fitness now againOriginally posted by baitman View PostWho was the villa midfielder with the dyed white hair, he was very good.
I thought Gerrard was pure Fat Sam, Pulis type tactics today...... his post match comments backed it up. We didn’t play well but we won - all that matters

We didn’t play well the last 15 mins or so, we kind of become sloppy and lost our focus a little bit. But before that, I thought we were good, especially for 15 mins in that second half when we built up the pressure on them and it was relentless.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostWe didn’t play well but we won - all that matters
I think we’re a better team now that when we won the title and the football I’m seeing is sensational at times. I’ll even go as far as saying we’re playing the best football in Europe at the moment. We’re so fluid when we have our full team and Thiago has added that extra level from midfield. At times it’s too easy we can become sloppy. Are we winning?

We might well be. It would be easy to throw back a counter point or two to your claim and say well we have drawn more games than we did at this point of the title season and that we have already lost a game, but I think the league is much stronger now than that season, certainly in the case of City and Chelsea.
We do play some very fluid football at times, especially when we have Fabinho and Thiago starting ahead of VVD and Matip, and our attack is firing again for the most part.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I hear where you are coming from but us playing well also means we are more ruthless. Having said that the ref was atrocious and tried single handily to stop us winningOriginally posted by Fredo View PostWe didn’t play well the last 15 mins or so, we kind of become sloppy and lost our focus a little bit. The last 15 mins we lost our shape and composure

Our first XI is the best team in the world at the moment, no doubt. I think even Pep would admit that. But, being honest, we have so many players that are a perfect fit, that if one or two are missing, we can drop a level into the best of the rest.Originally posted by Fredo View PostWe didn’t play well the last 15 mins or so, we kind of become sloppy and lost our focus a little bit. However we deserve an injury free run. Mad to think Thiago, Fab and Hendo have hardly started together.

The team that won the title controlled games and closed games out better than we have been going this season.
Several more grinding 1-0's and i may reconsider

That title winning season a lot of these games were nail biting stuff. We never had the same control IMO, and a lot of these games we were lucky to win them. Last night's 1-0 win was a comfortable one. Game got a bit 50/50 in the last 10 mins, when we switched off, but before that it was total domination.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostThat's a pretty bold claim.

This season, we've been destroying teams, not always on the scoreline, but the gulf in class in level of play is clear. It's a logical conclusion of 2 more years of the same team playing together and having learned through a rough patch of injuries last year. Are we winning?

True that. Results wise, that team was horribly efficient and winning games when not playing well and relying on our effectiveness upfront. But our level of football has gone up a notch or two. Salah is in his prime and Jota an increasing influence adding to the depth upfront. If you look at individuals throughout the current team, we can arguably say that we have 5 or 6 players who are the best in their positions at the moment, which takes some beating.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostWe might well be.
