I hate referees and them ****ing up the game, so not defending them because they are pricks and the playing the game argument is fair. And I'm sure this comment will be taken in the wrong way - but what the **** do women 'footballers' know about 'playing the game'. Those refs have been a lot closer to real action than any female player. The intensity of top level women's football is like 13 year old boys having a kick about in the park. The irony/ignorance of those comments get to me.

I thought you picked up on exactly what I was saying were a few others did not which was that it's pretty blatant the two women and female interviewer were on because of the day that is in it and not because BT Sports believe in equality.

If we are saying the same thing which is a perfectly reasonable argument about how disingenuous sports media really is... then why the retraction?

No problem with the female taking the journalist role of making the production flow, asking the right questions and helping out neanderthalic ex-footballers articulate themselves better. I don't like being told that they are the experts and know the nuances of the game because of their professional exploits. Might as well get someone who has turned out 200 Sunday league appearances to shed light and give analysis.

Absolutely, I feel you may get some stick from certain posters which would be unwarranted but I completely agree with what you are saying. The very fact she didn't actually know the laws of the game, what constitutes dangerous/wreckless play and that it had to be painfully explained to her on live TV... speaks volumes. Alex Scott is a good pundit, speaks well and knows the game and for me she is the best of a pretty bad bunch of female pundits from what I have seen on BT and Sky.

Not at all, most are ****ing idiots. At least the majority they have on there have played in high level matches and listened to esteemed people. Yes, Ferdinand is an idiot and not a particularly good pundit. He has had the benefit of a great footballing mind, like Capello's wisdom in his ears for several years for example. He has played the best competitions and won trophies. I can kind of accept what they're saying, even if they're deluded.

Hence I made reference to the 'ex-pro' rather than the journalist/broadcaster who gives analysis. Different kettle of fish for me personally.

I feel like each time I wrote a post by time I posted you had posted something which changed my mind. My “retraction” was in response to this post:

Well because it was an opinion of a woman. I don't care what sex the pundits are but defending a potential ankle breaking tackle is just ****ing daft and anyone who tries to defend that drivel is as bad.

For example if you had said it about Alex Scott who’s on the US CL coverage most weeks, I would say that it would come across sexist. Not to say a woman should get a pass, but highlighting that she’s a woman in the criticism (**** off girls) would be uncalled for…

Because it is International Women's Day and imo BT and Sky just pick the women to tick boxes. They are only there for optics. "But we are trying to be more inclusive ", no you're not you're just trying to avoid a backlash because you've been criticised for it being a boys club.

I don’t know what people are expecting here. That was a tough tie. Inter gave absolutely everything. We came through it, and on another night we score 2 or 3 from absolutely clear chances.

Agreed, they had a few half chances, nothing to worry about at all. Don't think Ali had a save to make before the goal.

Meanwhile, we had 3 off the post and a couple of other great chances.

I was impressed with Inter. Cant say I watch Italian football at all these days, but they were excellent all over the park and really took the game to us.

Brozovic is a quality player...couldnt help notice at the end of the game Klopp had his arm around him as they walked down the tunnel. Would be a quality addition to our midfield on free.

I'm pretty sure he's linked with a move to us in the summer - I definitely agree, he'd be a quality signing.
