Nice to read something like that in a world where the young players are driving Ferraris & dripping in gold etc.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Had to find this below the Arthur Melo thread!!! What has happened to this kid? He arrived with a lot of promise and we saw a few nice cameos, but he appears to have been ghosted. Is there a reason why we aren't seeing him.

I find it odd tbh. I get that he doesn't really fit into our formation very easily but he was there and then he wasn't. He scored at City (first game back after WC) but was overwhelmed and then hooked at half-time, and he's been mostly completely bombed out ever since.

I thought he seemed really good. Had a nice edge to his play as well that lead me to believe that he would make it with us.

I think when we do this it's often to get them out of the limelight and work on something, usually physical (strengthen him up, work on his pace/mobility etc). Wouldn't surprise me if we've seen an area like that he's weak on and he's been taken out for a few months to improve on it.

I do agree he's hard to fit into our formation (what is his best position?), but he is clearly a talented player and I'd be surprised if he doesn't get another chance at some point with us.

For both him and Curtis the talk is of work on the defensive side of their game.

Not too sure why we’re concerned about him. He’s young, he’s got time. Weird bump.

He should be getting minutes from the bench if we're fairly safe.
No good getting a lad who is a regular premiership starter and ruining him.

So we don’t give kids minutes then? How about Bajtecic, Elliot etc? If he’s not performing, he’s not getting games. Maybe it’s the answer?

He does need minutes but whose minutes should be be taken even if coming on from the bench?

For me he sort of fills a similar sort role as Elliot. Not a proper midfielder and not a proper winger/wide forward. More an AM or in his case a LAM to Elliot's RAM.

With both of them there is no obvious spot within how we usually set up without it being a square peg in a round hole scenario, and if we switched to using either as an out and out AM then we would need the CM duo behind the AM slot to be very mobile and at 100%. Something we can safely say our current CM options would not be as a duo on a regular basis.

This season is just crappy timing for both him and Elliot. Our team of a season or two ago firing on all cylindars could carry and incorporate one or both of them getting regular minutes imo, but our misfiring team cannot do so as easily, again imo of course.

Could also be a touch of what Fredo said in that maybe Carvalho is not performing in training and he is not getting game time as a result. In that case it may well be that we send him out on loan come the summer.

Fabio Carvalho is set to leave Liverpool just one year after joining Liverpool from Fulham.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano was discussing a potential summer clearout at Anfield, and he named Carvalho among those who will leave the club.

Interestingly, the journalist didn’t note that this would be a loan exit, so it sounds as though the ‘special’ youngster could be on his way out permanently if the right offer comes in.

It’s not all that shocking to hear that Carvalho could be going. After all, the youngster has barely played since the turn of the year and it’s clear that he’s not all that fancied by the Liverpool coaching staff.

The journalist shared what he knows about Liverpool and Carvalho.

I see Liverpool going for two or three midfielders because Naby Keita is out, Oxlade-Chamberlain is out and James Milner needs to decide on his future,” Romano said.

“Will they also go for one more striker or another type of player in one of those positions? Fabio Carvalho I am told is also leaving. We have to see what solution they will find but he is young and he is never playing so it is important to clarify these things.”

It's a shame as he's a talent, but it is hard to see what his best position is and where he fits into the team.

I suspect it'll be a loan rather than a sale, but we'll see.

A shame but it's been on the cards. Strange signing in some ways as he doesn't fit into our shape or the way we play, but I hoped he'd give us a different option and I guess the club felt it a no-brainer at the peanuts price. Just hasn't worked out despite the initial promise with a few goals early on. Could probably get £15m for him.
