Klopp did start the season using Carvalho straight away though. He was featuring regularly until around late October, clocking up just under 20 appearances.

Then, November onwards we only saw him 4 or 5 more times.

Don’t think it was anything to do with Klopp being reluctant to put him in the team, because he did from the off. More like something made Klopp decide to stop playing him.

He was very ineffective in a couple of games he started early on and, if memory serves me right, was pulled off at half time in both. I took away from that that, despite his goals in the first few games, he was not ready to be a starter. Then the team's performances went off the cliff, making gambles with an attacking midfielder even less likely.
