The whole ‘If that’s at the other other end, they get get a penalty’ cries over Gordon coming form Lampard and certain pundits, is a bit much to listen to.

Plus they got one of the softest pens of all time at Anfield last season.

Lampard just says 'stuff' at the end of matches. He hasnt got a ****ing clue.

Yep he just blurts out nonsense in the same sort of self important manner that Hodgson does.

Given Lampard is not even four full years into his management career and already at his third club he is well on his way to becoming the next waste of space revolving door manager.

These show good views of the penalty claim,

The first clip shows that Gordon swings his leg over in front of Matip, inviting contact.

Its clear from the second clip that there was no push from Matip.

Didn't you listen to the post-match interview from Gordon? Matip stepped on his foot which caused him "severe pain"

It is utterly embarrassing from Everton on this. It is hardly a stonewall pen. Yes, we've seen them given (wrongly) in the past but there's hardly anything in it. Gordon is looking for the pen by slowing and sticking his leg over at Matip.

This is after the same player had been booked for a horrendous dive in the same spot.

So bad I even had to check that this image wasn't photoshopped before posting it.

Yeah, I saw that pic and wondered the same

Gordon has clearly been instructed to look for pens, and with the Matip one, you can see that he is sometimes quite good at doing so. But neither were pens.

He looks for contact and then takes off. It is called cheating. There was a moment when they were 1 nil down when he was chasing a ball in the channel and all of a sudden he seemed much more robust...

Everton to ask why Matip challenge on Gordon was not given as penalty in Merseyside derby

Everton will contact the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) to query why a challenge they feel should have led to a penalty was not reviewed further in the Merseyside derby.

With the game goalless, forward Anthony Gordon went over in the area following a challenge by Liverpool's Joel Matip.

Eight minutes after the incident Andy Robertson scored Liverpool's opener with Divock Origi sealing the 2-0 win.

The defeat left Everton in the relegation zone with six games to go.

Frank Lampard's side are two points below Burnley, who occupy the final position of safety, though the Toffees have a game in hand.

Lampard suggested post match that a penalty would have been given if the challenge had been made on a Liverpool player.

"It was a penalty, you don't get them at Anfield," he said.

"If that was Mohamed Salah at the Kop end, I think [the referee] gives that. It was a foul on Anthony."

Earlier this season PGMOL apologised to Everton after they were denied a penalty in their 1-0 defeat by Manchester City despite midfielder Rodri appearing to use his hand to control the ball.

This is just a face saving exercise for Lampard now, picking up on the 'cheating refs' narrative set by the supporters. When Lampard relegates them he can look back to these decisions as opposed to the ridiculously negative tactics and cheating that he instructed them to carry out.
