That was us years ago - our entire happiness was based around any United failure.

The biggest insult I can say is that United are irrelevant - we beat them 5 nil after declaring at half time in OT. I don’t even remember how much we beat them by at home - 4 I think……. years ago I’d remember any point we took from them. All they’ve got is us not winning the league but their City “rivals” did

Exactly. Just treat them like any other upper mid table team.

They spend more than us to finish behind us in the league and to win less silverware. Yep sounds like they have a lot to crow about at present.


And Spurs? Does anyone take them seriously anyway? Their entire season revolves around getting a few decent results here and there whilst having zero chance of winning anything.

I’d resigned myself to runners up before kick off tbh but when I saw Villa was 2-0 up I dared to dream but it wasn’t to be. The CL is a must win for our side to get the recognition we so richly deserve. It’ll be tough without Thiago though.

Sickening the way it happened today, but would rather having the disappointment than for my club to be irrelevant to the extent where I’m not even bothered with the results anymore. Imagine they get to a place where they lose today, city, their local rival wins the league, and they’re dishing out a slagging! If I ever celebrate Everton winning the league, I think I’ll give up soccer!

The irony is that they always accused us of living in the past.

At least they have a chance of silverware next year as they are in the Europa League

We should have beaten Spurs, oh well glad I didn't get up at 1am. Instead I feel rested and ready for the week. At least City's spawny goal scorer Gündoğan is off this summer.

I'm going camping next weekend and the place will have no mobile reception so I'll be watching the CL Final when I get home on Sunday.

The most frustrating thing today for me is the loss of Thiago for the CL final. While we had a shot at the title it was always a long shot, as they say it's the hope that kills you. I started the day thinking it wasn't going to happen, but when Villa were 2-0 up I thought it was on, only to have the hope crushed

I guess that is all part and parcel of being a football fan and being in contention for trophies, some you win some you lose. Let's hope the lads pick themselves up and win the CL and make this a truly great season.

Yep. We’ve witnessed enough of this from afar over the years. We are right amongst it now.
