More knee jerks than Michael Flatly's Riverdance

We created a bucket load of chances, loads of clear shots on goal - should have scored 4 or 5.

Biggest mistake was giving Darwin his first start - pressure got to him big style and it's now going to be even harder for him to settle.

Don't think this lot are aware the season has actually started. Still strolling around mi****ting passes like its the first game of preseason.

Still haven't a clue how to breakdown a 10 man defence either after it being our Achilles heel for 6 years now.

Slow build up, dumb passes, dozy fullbacks that just hit and hope, an OAP in midfield, zero urgency to our play until Nunez fired them up. Zero composure in front of goal as usual.

Everyone should maybe take less joy from the Mancs plight and look at our own patch as we've been dog**** and lucky to have 2pts.

Bleak start to the season with injuries & not targeting a midfielder yet. Here’s hoping they are playing their cards tight.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Weirdly having tried to sign Tchouameni right at the start of the window and not getting him, I still don't see how that would have affected the midfield goal threat. Still feels like even if he had come in, we'd still be lacking creativity and cover to Thiago and his range of vision and passing.

Easy with hindsight but we should have risked Gomez if it was just a knock. Philips was targeted by Zaha and his lack of pace cost us. We would have won with Gomez in from the start IMO.

Heard exactly the same quite a lot recently, including three finals in which we failed to score, to the point where it’s a bit of a theme.

I'm a bit confused as to why Virgil didn't close down Zaha properly at the end. He had the chance but just stood off him.

Trent seems to be playing a different way this year as well. I'm not liking what I'm seeing in defence and its interaction with the midfield. Looks muddled.

I guess the Mitrovic situation last week was in his mind so he was being careful but my negative state of mind is making me think he looks too casual

I think Virgil plays the percentages. He didn't want to overcommit. He thought he was wide enough that it was unlucky he'd score. Unfortunately Zaha pinged a beauty in off the post.

Not great but it was definitely Phillips getting himself in a mess, body shape all wrong, that cost us the goal.

Also a good point - I think he’d back Ali to save it from there but it was a perfect strike

Virgil and Trent are the two players who can occasionally be accused of being too casual. Both with off the charts ability, but both prone to strutting. We build from the back and set tempo from our own possession. It’s small margins, but we lacked a bit intensity last night until Nunez red card.

Trent was appearing in some pretty unusual spaces last night, even given the progressive brief of our fullbacks.

The injuries are a nightmare as we are looking for rhythm with a team that would not be expecting to play together.

I suppose 9 times out of 10 that's either going to be saved or go wide. It was a cracking shot.

He was coming inside a hell of a lot, often pitching up near the centre. I might be wrong but he seemed to me to overlap on the outside of Salah a lot more. Maybe Klopp's moving him gradually into midfield? If so it might explain some of the disjointed play.

Trent definitely seemed to pop up more in the middle than normal, especially after the send off.
