Any team with pace will give us trouble on the counter. Our midfield personnel have been found out unfortunately. I thought United were decent first 30 mind but wasn't impressed with them after that .. the problem was we were just that bad.

Big problems in that squad, even if lads get back fit they will inevitably be injured down the line. History has showed us this time and time again. Now short of a panic buy we are stuck with this squad. This loss was no surprise, it was coming. We've played 3 average sides and struggled vs every single one of them.

I think our tactics were fine, we just needed more talent out there. We got in their box and good attacking positions plenty of times. We need midfielders badly to execute on what Klopp wants to do.

Fenway have been pragmatic in the transfer market but this team really does need a rebuild. Fair play they have brought in Jota, diaz and Darwin but the age profile of this team means that several first teamers have grown old together.

We have addressed some areas but not others. The need for another midfielder has just gone up a notch or two but I would be shocked if we bought one.

Big question is why are so many of our first team crocks?

Agreed, we are not Man City with that sort of cash. But sometimes you have to make tough decisions such as letting players like Hendo, Keita, Ox and Milner go. Our wages are some of the highest in the League, we don't need to have Hendo and Milner together in that team at this stage of their careers.

Is it the training methods? Great question.

I think it is more than that.

We are easier to play against because teams will leave the middle of the pitch open and double up in wide areas knowing that we cannot hurt them from that area. Stop the front three and there’s nothing in behind.

If we are serious about someone of bellinghams profile then we will have to change the way we play. We cannot push the fullbacks as high. We will just get killed on the counter.

We bought Ox and Thiago knowing well their injury history. I do think we played too many pre season games. With our intense training it does seem like it was too much.

Fair points. You're thinking more of a 4-2-3-1 with Nunez up top and a goalscorer number 10 behind him?

we dont look incisive at all, even the few breaks we got......nobody seemed comfortable with the ball.

Firminho, Henderson & Milner should not be starting games.

Not sure we have many kids ready to step up either.

                    Sad times

Elliott and Carvalho may be stars one day but what the **** are the club thinking pinning so much on these lads

I do think there will be an element of burnout after last season like people have said, but we seem to be feeling a bit sorry for ourselves on the sly. In the long run I think this defeat might do us a bit of good mentality wise, but it doesn't make it any easier now tbh :/

Look at us after that Leicester game - this will be the jolt we need. Just need some players back asap. A midfield signing wouldn't go amiss either

                          Tuuuuuurd

I watched the first half then fast forwarded hoping for at least a consolation goal. I saw the one Salah scored but I knew we wouldn't rally.

Fortunately I have a load of work to keep me busy, plus a camping trip, a training roadmap to get me back on the mountain bike, and a trip to WA to look forward to.

That contract had bad idea all over it. We should have been moving him on to the likes of Villa and promoting someone who is sure to play to the captaincy (VVD). We doubled his wages and kept a part time midfielder as captain so as to not rock the boat, and to reward him for being a good egg. The actions of a manager who didn’t think they’d be extending their contract I suspect

I really like the 433 but Henderson and Fabinho are not great partners for Thiago. Fab lacks recovery pace and Henderson is just too old now.

If Bellingham comes I can’t see how Thiago plays with him because we will be wide open on the counter unless we change our attacking philosophy and keep fullbacks tucked in.

This is what we are doing, rebuilding with young players. Nunez, Carvalho, Elliot. At some point we’ll be in transition and maybe it’s this year. There’s no drama really. The cornerstone of this team is still here.

Also, I’ve felt this year (and I think I’ve seen Klopp mention this) that we’ve extended pre season well into the season, and injuries didn’t help. So we’re still playing catch up on that side, not starting games well then coming back.
                                Are we winning?
