No complaints with the Government. They said it wasn’t necessary to postpone and gave everyone the freedom to carry on.

**** really though isn't it, it put the clubs and the PL in a pretty invidious position. They've postponed out of fear of upsetting people.

all the documents that have been released over the years about her eventual death stated sport would be cancelled

it seems sporting bodies were scrambling for guidance last night.

Left them in a difficult place either way they went.

I don’t know. Surely postponing games on the day/weekend of the funeral would be an appropriate enough mark of respect.

But is it really necessary to postpone 2 weekends on the trot?
The games this weekend could have been commemorative.

Other things are going ahead, rugby league games, the Great North run.
Have they caused widespread upset or offence?

          Can’t please everyone either way.

They've had forever to plan for it. I agree it should have be known fixtures go ahead after death, nothing just before the funeral.

We are going to miss 2 rounds of games for no apparent reason.

After all the covid **** and cancellations, I think everyone just needs to crack on with life.

Can't we cancel England's participation in the World Cup as a mark of respect to Her Majesticness?

The fixture congestion is going to be nuts.

Might give us some extra time to get players back from injury and working on how we're going to play

Just have a minutes silence at every game, sorted. Ridiculous stuff.

Yeah, i think they ****ed this. The weeknd of the funeral may have been better... But this seems stupid.

Is anyone really in mourning to the point they want to mope around the house?

Gives us time to get players fit though.

I don't understand the moaning. (1) Personally I don't spend much time thinkimg about the royal family, but lots do and it doesn't seem that unreasonable to respect her and them in this way. (2) A few days ago Klopp was saying we needed to re-invent ourselves but that was difficult with games every few days; well now we have a gap between games.

From what i gather from inside that meeting while it was a split opinion the fact that there was no guidance from Governmment forced there hand they needed to make a decision and the fact that other sports were cancelling they were left with little choice

Also if they were the only ones, Boo-ing during minute silences were a major concern

By ****ing up two weekends, I feel a lot of people may endup losing a lot of money who may not be able to afford it. I am not accusing royalists of all being rich enough to afford it... but two weeks does seem over the top to me. Do you get that if your own family member dies?

I think booing the anthem in normal times and doing it after her death are widly different things imo. I'd imagine they'd have a minutes silence or applause, I'd hope people could show some restraint a minute but I doubt it.
