    i think that's more to do with your average british pundit's ability to pronounce foreign names

    there's a whole list of spanish and portuguese names that have been butchered in coverage of the prem.

    and we find the opposite problem in firmino, where at least half the time, people pronounce it as if it's spelled "firminho" (fur-mee-nyo) (or perhaps more common in england, and just as it was with the original post in this subthread, "fur-mee-nee-yo") rather than "firmino" (fur-mee-no)

      For sure, but I think they're actually along the right lines with this one?

      With the acute accent and the tilde, it's not going to be a straightforward 'Nu-nez'.

                    When I hear a commentator say his name I can't help but think of his predecessor from some time back under Benitez's reign of the same name. Let's hope that's where the similarities end, soon.
