Liverpool v Arsenal (A) PL

They are riding high, and whilst they are clearly a better team than last season there are some reasons for optimism.

1. We have 2 days more rest than them, they play Bodø/Glimt on Thursday night at home in the Europa.

2. The toughest game they have played, they lost to Man U. And though they beat Spurs this was helped with Spurs going down to 10 men. They have beaten the teams they should given the mental levels of player investment they have had which is what they had not been doing for the past few seasons.

Jota has an amazing record against them so he has to play.

In recent seasons that sounds about right for a Liverpool vs Arsenal game, just not with us in 9th

Just looked at the table, they are 11 points ahead (game more played) with having lost the same amount of games as us

Though they also suggest we are not as far away as all that. That said win this and it is down to 8. Win the game in hand and it is 5.

We need to go on a run - that is the worry.

They are having a good season and Jesus has really helped them, plus Saliba has been excellent, but I still have my doubts and I don't rate Arteta. We should be there for the taking, but I think they'll choke.

Need to get that run going pretty much from the Arsenal game as there are only seven more league games before the break for the Sports Wash Cup.

Then we get yet another six or so week break between PL games.

Plus we still have the postponed games against Wolves and Chelsea to be sandwiched in somewhere after the WC.

Second half of the season looks horrendous fixture wise already, then as you look at the fixtures you realise that any domestic and european fixtures are yet to be added along with the two postponed games.

I'd keep the formation similar to the Rangers game with Firmino taking the Jota role but playing it a little deeper. Salah and Diaz performing a bit more as wingers than in a 433.

I think we need to expect Arsenal to come at us and go for it, so there should be gaps if we go longer and bypass their midfield.

Strangely enough so have I.

Both are games that, on the current form of all involved, we are probably expected to lose, maybe even take heavy losses.

So it sort of feels like free hit territory and that we might just go at them with a chance of 4 to 6 points.

Tend to feel better taking on an in form big team when we are doing poorly than a mid table scrapper team. More chance of us raising our game against another big club (or City )

City will go punch for punch with us alright.

Arsenal like to play on the counter quite a bit though and are good at it.
