Liverpool vs Man City - Sunday16th Oct @ 16:30 UK Time

Attention turns back to the league and possibly our biggest challenge for a whole host of reasons.

    Injuries:
    Diaz, TAA and Matip out.
Stones, Walker and Philips out for City.

For me – team picks itself

    Alison
    Gomez Ibu Virg Robertson
    Hendo fab Thiago
    Salah bobby nunez

Very pleased Walker is out - who will play right back for them in his absence, anyone know?

I think if we had more attacking options from the bench we might be tempted with the 4-2-4 and match them up, but starting Salah/Bobby/Nunez/Jota would leave errr.....Elliott and Carvalho as sub options? Not ideal

So I’m on a train to Prague while this is on, the last time I watched a game on the train to Prague it was a 5-0 away win…….. when we beat United at OT last year

Not sure what omen that is regarding the possible outcome

I think this means that it's entirely your fault if we don't win 5-0?

            I'd revert back to 4-3-3.

            Gomez - Konate - VVD - Robertson
            Henderson - Fab - Thiago
            Salah - Firmino - Jota

Same team as NTTO or Rich for me.

Need to be pushing back hard against City from the first whistle though.

We cannot let City get into us the way we let Rangers at us for teh first half last night.

Rangers were causing us problems with work rate alone and they simply did not have the quality to take advantage properly.

We sit back and let City out work us in the early stages and they have the quality to be out of sight by the half hour mark.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Cancelo at RB or LB is not lovely stuff as he is a quality FB who is excellent at dropping into midfield to cause over loads. Plays pretty well on the right where he tends to cut in less and instead presses the other team's left back.

Pretty good chance creator as well.

Gomez from the small bit I have seen of him this season looks to do from left back what Cancelo does in that he works his way into the middle to cause over loads.

Yeah I can't but worry they will murder us in midfield. On the flip side I thought Konate was a monster in both games he's played so far. Our own Joe Gomez is showing how defending is done too.

But I'm fully expecting a 3-0 or 3-1 smashing. It's ok as we're still feeling our way back.

As much as we are capable of scoring,Our defence will sink like Captain Birds Eye's Submarine.

Have to be honest, and I know it was "only" Rangers. But it was nice last night when there was an overhead shot or a shot from one of the cameras high on one of the side stands, and you could see our back four stepping up in a dead straight line or retreating and the same line being kept.

Been a while since seeing all four move as a unit was so noticeable.

Also enjoyed how Gomez was constantly trying to watch the spaces being left by Elliot and Konate in turn was getting into position to cover any break that got in behind Gomez.

Both Gomez and Konate had a couple of moments where they were shaking off rust last night but for the most part they worked well as the right side of our back line.

Did like how Rangers targeted our right flank hard for 30 minutes or so but as the game wore on they started to look to the centre and our left flank. Took that as a sign of Gomez and Konate handling the heavier handed stuff that was being thrown at them and throwing a spanner into any tatic involving our right side buckling under sustained pressure.

A bit more concerning was VVD having a number of moments when not under serious pressure that could have been costly against better attackers.

Well he was going to play somewhere? and he can't play both LB and RB Walker being out is the "lovely stuff"!

Let's see how Gomez does at Anfield against Mo

First goal is absolutely massive. If we score first we might be able to make a game out of it. If they score early I fear a thrashing.

Haaland will be gunning for us after drawing a blank in the Community Shield. I'm glad we've got Konate back for this one.

Robbo being back is also massive. I thought he was brilliant when he came on yesterday.

Ah fair enough. I misread it as you saying lovely stuff to the prospect of Cancelo and Gomez.
