This was working really well against Man City and we created some decent chances from it.
loved our counter attacking approach vs City, they had no idea how to handle it. Was so exciting to watch. You get so used to us dominating possession and not doing much with it that it was refreshing to us causing the best side the world so many problems. It really should have been 4 or 5 and that is not an exaggeration.

But the problem is that most sides bar city deliberately allow us to have lots of possession and sit back.
It’s hard to play on the counter when the opposition have 10 men behind the ball and pack their own box out.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

It's been something we have struggled with for decades. In Brendan's season where we kept scoring early and it forced our opponents out we often racked up a high score. But, we have a tendancy to choose a safe backwards pass in favour of keeping possession. At that point we may as well hoof it to their goalie and concede possession as getting through a wall of ten, condensed into the final third is nigh on impossible with midgets up front

Let's not let a poor run distort recent history
We scored 94 League goals last season FFD - and we've not exactly struggled with scoring goals over the last 5 season.
18-19 - 89 Goals (2.3)
19-20 - 85 Goals (2.2)
20-21 - 68 Goals (1.8)
21-22 - 94 Goals (2.5)
22-23 - 21 Goals (9 games 2.3)
So nearly half a decade of games and over the 5 we average 2.2 goals per game. There will only be one team bettering than that.
And thats just in the PL.Modifying post.

I swear commentators have their eyes painted on. Not a single one commented that Fabinho had the ball under control and was turning the outside of his foot around the ball to move away from Haaland before he was dragged to the floor.
It's boils my piss when commentators fail to highlight a player's body movement and weight when talking about fouls. Was muß, das muß.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Great point. I do get why the style of play is under question because the team have conceded too many times from counter attacks but going back to a counter attacking team ourselves is not a solution against most opponents.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostLet's not let a poor run distort recent history

true but against the really good teams that dominate possession, it could be very effective. A nice change up when needed. We won't revert back to it but it's good to have in the locker.
