Not sure where he is played at borough? Is he a "proper" winger?
I think we shouldnt burden him with too much expectation, especially if he plays in Mo's position. He is 2 years younger than Elliott who has a similar stature but cant get a game despite making right mid his position last year. Doak might be better placed with his pace, though. Will probably spend the next few seasons on loan rather than learning from Salah. I think the games are more important, tbh.
His league stats for Boro are quite good. Just had a look and he is listed as having 2 goals and 5 assists from 18 appearances. Nowt wrong with that from a 19 yo.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

You’ve never watched him?Originally posted by vlahka View PostWait, people are frothing over him and these are the stats for it? Strange people.
Those are pretty top line stats. When you watch him, you see he has huge potential because he has the rare talent of being a very effective dribbler.
That and he’s still only 19.
He plays wide right of a 3Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Mo Salah was 20 when he joined FC Basel and his stats for his first season weren’t dissimilar to what Doak will be on track for on current form.Originally posted by Corndog View PostYou’ve never watched him?

I’m not suggesting Doak will get to Mo’s level, it’s far too early to tell how good he might be.Last edited by rudedog; 29-12-24, 12:59 PM.

I'll be honest, I've only ever seen him when hes popped up for liverpool or the odd reserve match I caught. I havent seen heaps of him. But I've never seen anything that made him look like a standout. He's playing in a lower team and doing, at best, decent. He's not tearing those other teams to shreds. This is why I say I dont think he's going to make it for us. We've had plenty of young players who were doing better than he is. Look at previous players that everyone kept saying would be glorious like Woodburn, Ojo, Teixeira etc. Purely on performance, those 3 looked far better than Doak at their same ages. And they didnt do much. So I really dont see what the appeal of him is.Originally posted by Corndog View PostYou’ve never watched him?

Palace among clubs to have Doak approach rejected.
Latest from Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas: Liverpool have knocked back approaches from several clubs, including Crystal Palace, for Ben Doak.
The Reds have rejected some strong interest teams in Europe as well as the PremierLeague. The levels those clubs were willing to pay do not come close to Liverpool's valuation of Doak, who is on loan at Middlesbrough. They have therefore been rejected out of hand.
Liverpool are happy with his progress at Boro and they believe he still has a future at Anfield and can play in Arne Slot's first-team eventually. The 19-year-old won EFL Young player of the Month for December and Liverpool believe he is the best player in that division. Doak is said to be one of Palace's top targets this month.
