It’s definitely not just the personnel, but the midfield definitely has aged quickly, and the other options are not very good (eg Keita). But we’re clearly trying to do something different, but it’s going so badly that it’s impossible to determine what that is from watching us play. We have the sameish formation which makes it even more confusing. The manager seems to be in one of his ‘not sure what to do’ phases.

I said when Mane was leaving that I thought he was the one who led the press from the front and that would be a huge miss, I guess changing 2/3 front line doesn't help.. But I still think we miss Mane hugely in that regard.Originally posted by S-RED View PostAge & no Bobby pressing, No Mane Pressing, No Hendo press
No Fab press, No Gini Press, No TAA press.
I know we had an amazing season last one out; but since Gini left, we have seen a drastic drop off in the press.
Only Robbo presses now, well & Thiago for 30 mins
The other interesting thing is that the Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum midfield was criticised as not creative enough, not a huge number of goals and assists, what it did have was a solid centre that covered for the fullbacks and allowed the forwards to focus on attacking. The midfielders that have come in since have been more creative/attack minded (Thiago and Elliott) and I think that switch in dynamic has hurt us as we are constantly carved openLast edited by Exiled_red; 08-01-23, 10:54 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Not saying he didn't look better than the others but I feel the context needs to be considered, he still did some of his old frustrating tricks.

Thats because people did not understand how the system works/ed.Originally posted by Exiled_red View Post

Our chances were made from forcing errors. Itsbthe reason I dont think we need to blow hundreds of millions to fix this. 2 30 million brusiers would shore it up, and we can recruit better quality as and whem they are available.
Its the entire reason we matched City for so long. We cannot go toe to toe with them playing their game.Last edited by Charly; 08-01-23, 10:10 PM.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I haven't read that, but just thought it wasn't given because the lino put his flag up and they didnt have the vision for VAR, so cant overturn anything?Originally posted by Buzzo View Post
Like when Arsenal scored against us earlier this season. Which on looking at images after the game it was clearly off but the lino didnt flag it, so it stood."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey

I think Bobby's a huge miss too - he, like Sadio, used to press relentlessly. It was really only Salah from the front three who didn't as often. Now we're missing Sadio and Bobby, plus Diaz and Jota are injured, so we're bedding in both Nunez and Gakpo. Nunez, to be fair, does press a bit at times, but nowhere near the levels of Sadio and Bobby.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI said when Mane was leaving that I thought he was the one who led the press from the front and that would be a huge miss, I guess changing 2/3 front line doesn't help.. Salah's form has been poor despite the goals... he's taken to running down blind alleys again, or straight into defenders then flinging his arms up in the air immediately after. He does it every single game these days.
Midfield needs energy and experience plus a bit of niggle. We have the experience, sometimes the energy but very little niggle. Tchouameni would have been perfect... Caicedo would be great too. FSG need to spend the cash now in Jan or we're going out of the FA Cup against Wolves... or if we scrape through, out against Brighton who also counter at pace. And have Caicedo to break up our play.
