We have the resources to make a leap. Some players will look better with better players around them.
Our midfield is like a donut. The old Salah and Mane is not there to score and create all the goals for our workmanlike midfield when we were winning.
The game has changed there is a lot more parity but we have more resources than almost everyone if we choose the spend it and out the right org structure in place.

The game has improved globally as well, many more players to choose from.

We are not, but many other teams aren't good enough either. From 3rd to 10th, there isn't alot of difference this season.

Yes, broadly agree, thanks. Personally I think one of the issues we have is that barring the odd player, world class players aren't going to come to us ahead of the big wage paying clubs and I don't think it makes sense for us to put all our bets on getting them. That means that we have to choose from the 2nd/3rd tier - which is still very good - but means we have to be sharp with the scouting and fast with the execution and take more risks. It is how/where we got the likes of Mane, Salah, Firmino, Robertson etc. So sure, we could do it again, but...

.. anyway, as you allude to I though Bajcetic had a reasonable game. Showing your age at - what 18/19? is not shame v Real Madrid. And he showed some confidence. We're in a bad place, but there are some positives.

The midfield thing has been discussed so much now, since Gini left. It’s mad that we haven’t reinforced. We’ve let 2 injury prone players run their contracts down and have relied on two others who are entering their 30’s. Baffling.

Another Klopp interview that he looks absolutely deflated and over explaining everything. He knows we're in real trouble and I'm not sure there are any answers in this squad. I get a sense of acceptance in his tone, even laughing uncomfortably.

It wasn't Bajcetic's best game he's played for us but I still thought he was our best midfielder which might tell you what the problem is.
