Klopp wants something new, what not stick with what worked but with younger fresher players....... copying ****ing Pep. Klopp always stopped Pep and Pep used to try to adapt to deal with him....... I don't like it
you could see teams targeting that space at back end of last season and Konate was working overtime to cover. Plus we don't have a DM either. Both teams have looked so fragile at the back.

Hoping that was just a knock on the knee for Mac & nothing else!
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

That’s whatRobbo was indicating to the bench

Great goal by Cody and nice header from VVD plus we look dangerous on the break

          BUT

They are running free from midfield and CJ hasn't the tactical nous vs players as good as Bayern have. The are killing us down out right (no surprise there) and again no specialized DM to move over on the cover again being exposed.

Oh and Robbo is not a LCB - he is too all or nothing which he can get away with as a LB with VVD covering him plus his instinct is too overlap. If this is the way we will play then we are 2/3 specialist players away from what we need

Yeah the inverted role with TAA in it means we need more than just a DM.

We almost need to bin off the LB position altogether and go 3133 or 3223 with all three at the back being mobile CBs and the DM then being who drops back to split the CBs to creat a 4 at the back.

The invert role plus playing a high line is still forcing the back line to have to react on the fly rather than people just dropping back into position when we are being pressed/countered high up the pitch.

Get a fast winger waiting on the centre line on your left side and just hoof the ball to him and we are exposed in that spot where a RB should be and where TAA should be returning to more quickly when we lose the ball.

Even if TAA went back in a straight line a la Stones then the RCB could temporarily go to RB until the next phase of play even though it would not be ideal to have TAA going to a CB spot. We would at least have the right numbers back and numerically be in a position to block channels and pick up on runners until the midfield got back.

Right now we are, at times, lacking the ability to defend those spaces long enough for the midfielders to get back.

It’s concerning to see the same issues rearing their heads in all these pre season games. We are conceding goals and chances at a very alarming rate. There’s a lot of work to be done before the Chelsea game in 11 days.

I don’t want to sound too negative, but I just can’t see us being anywhere near a title challenge this year.

Good teams will tear that setup apart. Matip is not suited to the formation and even if Konate is, that same area been targeted every time and that's not good.

Trent ball watching horribly. That's basic stuff.

Trent and Matip poor for first and Robbo gone for a scone for the 2nd.

Impact injury for Mac so hopefully not too bad.

With TAA going into that inverted role today, we technically have the overload far more often than them through the centre yet we look at times like we are the team facing that overload.

MacAllister and Szob are working hard on reducing turnovers and countering the press, but when Bayern push centrally it seems that Jones is being left on his own by TAA to do the defending side of it.

Defeats the point of Szob and MacAllister doing their thing if we are just going to have the two guys in the pivot behind them pretty much trying to play the exact same way.

Is like we have the square midfield set up but all four midfielders are trying to play in the two top corners of the square.

Great when we are on the attack and that attack ends in a chance or goal, but it does not look as clever when the ball breaks and someone decides to kick a long ball towards our RB section of the pitch.

                        What's the score? 2-2?

Seems like we are capable of scoring and conceding at will. Like Ardiles Spurs team.

6 out 2 in not really any sort of solution in a competitive environment where you need a hunger from the bench. And thats without the inevitability of injuries. A lot of expectation on some pretty inexperienced players, hopefully one or 2 still to come in and add depth and experience.

Yeah is a slightly bizarre formation considering the players playing in it. It's experimental vs a top attacking sides so no surprise it's been exposed. Jones as a DM is a big no no.

If Trent drops straight back and spilts the CBs then Matip can attack the RB spot knowing he has cover beside him and without the line of four at the back being broken though.

If nobody drops back quickly then you get Roberston, VVD and Matip trying to cover four positions with three bodies and eventually something has to give if that is done too often as the other team twigs and then exploits it.

Yep we led 2-0 & conceded what looked like an off side goal & got opened up again for a 2nd.

Agreed, it's not working. It's on Klopp to be honest and I hope we can do some business in the market to sort it out.
