You said yourself players were a bit leggy and I think that's what happened with Jones. I thought positionally he did okay yesterday, but was weak in the tackle a couple of times like you referred to, which could be put down to tiredness. The fact that he was there to make teh challenge and also teh defenders were in good positions to help out was encouraging enough for me.Originally posted by Harv View PostPlayers all looked a bit leggy to me, no surprise as they're probably getting flogged in training. Some really good signings movement wise though. Macca and Dom are going to be class.
Jones isn't a 6, that much is clear. Wasting his best talents there and you could see him getting frustrated trying to tackle players.
Doak is seriously quick, if we use him properly he could be a real weapon late in games against tired legs.
Matip isn't going to work in this system. Way too slow to get over and cover. We'll get destroyed if we try the TAA coming inside tactic with him on the pitch.
Jones isn't a DM, we know that, but people claiming he's not capable of doing a job there on the back of yesterday's performance, heavily influenced by those two 'challenges' no doubt, are being a bit hasty IMO.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I honestly thought people were joking when they weighed in to complain about him. Genuinely, because he's been so good recently and this was basically his first perceived error, I thought people were being sarcastic, by saying he's a bit sh*t. Should have known better I guess.Originally posted by Harv View PostGlad someone else said it.
The pass to him was **** and late.
The header was poor, but it was good movement to get there and we know he's good in the air, so no big deal.
Second opportunity was excellent movement again and should have scored, but still encouraging.
3rd one as SB said, was a poor ball behind him and the ball was stuck under his feet, so don't blame him at all. Maybe he's becoming too refined as the old Nunez would have did this:

Unfortunately not RR. He is the teams whipping boy for some people. Regardless of what he does, even 40 goals in a season will not change that. Historically, this has happened with several players. The divvies know no better and continue with pathetic onslaught of put downs.Last edited by Assassin; 03-08-23, 09:55 AM.

Just sit back fella and watch the heads falling off for a few weeks.
Then after that footy is back and we get to watch the team again. Will be some great results, will be some wobbles along the way, but Klopp's latest rebuild/reinvention of the team is underway and we are all along for the ride regardless.
Some of what happens will be open for criticism but when things go right again in a big way be it this coming season or the one after, all the wobbles and bad results along the way will make the good stuff seem all the sweeter.
Without the bad stuff we would never truly know how high the highs actually are.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Hell yeah they all did well. That was a very impressive cameo from Elliot in particular actually. Doak goes from strength to strength & the other pair are progressing nicely. Also impressed with Quansah this preseasonOriginally posted by Fosterbloke View Post**** all this negativity bollocks. Of course we're not going to make wholesale changes like we do in friendlies but Clark, McConnell, Doak, and yes Elliott did alright against Bayern, I'd imaging they'd more than hold their own against dross sides.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I reckon we're making big bets on our youth players this season.Last edited by Fosterbloke; 03-08-23, 10:01 AM.Was muß, das muß.

Totally agree.
IF we can keep them all fit we will score a **** load of goals this season. 4-3 wins every week

So he's looked good against a couple of German amateur teams and East Fife.

I think we will start with Jota/Gakpo/Salah
Klopp is messing with Poch.
Poch is drilling his team now with long balls over the top towards our right side.
Come opening day, Klopp drops the inverted set up and we go at them with an attacking 433
Szob in the Am slot. Jones and MacAllister in the LCM and RCM slots.
Then as we go four up with TAA racking up four assists from RB, the camera pans to Klopp and he gives it the full Mick McCarthy "in the hole you say" look.
