I knew there was an irrational reason I was in love with this man.

Happy to hear this. There’ll be enough changes without unnecessary ones.

He's impressed me every time he enters the pitch - passes well, reads the game well and a bit of polite Japanese ****housery to boot

I dunno. He started the one game. Slot hasnt changed his mind. We need a viable starter. If Grav gets injured we are ****ed. He clearly doesnt rate him, the only question is can Morton or Bajetic fill in, or do we have the funds for a replacement?

If we do get Wirtz we’ll have Dom & Macca as able deputies & my money is on selling Morton & possibly keeping Bajetic.

Dom is poor played that far back, imho. His passing gets him into trouble. He cant play quick passes in tight spaces like Grav and Maccsa can. I also think Jones is better further forward, although he can do a job back there, he still isnt really suited to the more physical side.

The only problem with Macca and Endo protecting the back line, is the lack of height.... and the lack of reach... and the lack of pace.

Dont get me wrong, I like Endo and love Elliott, but I think Slot gave them one league start each (or was it two for Elliott). Im guessing Wirtz will either replace Nunez, or Elliott. Id have thought Elliott is a goner.

Endo may stay another year, I just hope Grav gets more rest (cos Im greedy and entitled and want to win everything). It may be one transfer too many anyway, as we need a new striker and centreback.

Im happy he wants to stay, but we could be losing several homegrown players, and need to watch the numbers (Elliott, Kelleher, Gomez, Trent and Quansah). Im pretty sure Baj is homegrown.

Why would he rate Morton higher? He has been here all season and played much less
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Such a great honour that Slot bestowed upon him in giving him the arm band last night. He always gives his all & is such a model professional.

Doesn’t hurt that it’s good for growing the brand either.

The 72000 stadium sold put in minutes. The brand was fine before he pulled on the arm band

                              67,032.

There were 67,032 supporters present for the game at Nissan Stadium, which the Reds won 3-1 thanks to second-half goals from Florian Wirtz, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha.

That crowd figure established a new high for a J. League-hosted match.

Arne Slot’s team had previously faced AC Milan at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium on the first leg of this summer’s tour, in front of 49,704 spectators
