Such a non-surprise about Konate and Jones. I don't think our training is responsible, some players are just cursed. Others are born to run forever, like Mane and Salah.

This is why I wince whenever we're linked with injured players that "have only had one injury, innit" like Kone.
    One tit for another.

Konate is possibly one of the most important players for us..... Not because of his ability but he is critical to the team to allow this Trent-moves-into-midfield 'project'

Hopefully he makes the team. If not, then possibly Gomez??? Because of his pace?

Think our training takes that bit more out of the non "straight line" or 180 degree players than it does out of the 360 degree players though.

Think that is why we generally (though not always of course) see central players like midfielders and centre backs have any weaknesses exposed by the intensive training rather than the straight line guys like full backs and wingers.

So any player less than bomb proof becomes almost a nailed on cert to pick something up or have a flaw exploited.

This will increase the pressure on Trent to perform on sunday. Konate covers very well

****ing konate, potentially a great, yet he's made of cheese.

Konate is prone to muscle injuries but our new formation doesn’t help, he’s been asked to cover the entire right flank where we are constantly exposed so he is sprinting far more. This probably means he will continue to get more niggles

Was just about to post exactly this. For a guy that seems prone to soft tissue injuries, it's probably not the best idea to have him running around like a ****ing greyhound covering the space behind Trent

I'm not a fan of our new system, but with Matip in for Konate, I definitely want us to stick to an 'old school' 433 or an even older school 442.

It has to be Gomez for me - much faster than Matip which is a necessity in that role

Good shout. Either way, a disaster waiting to happen.

People will be calling out gomez for his mistakes, but oblivious to trents usual issues that have thrown gomez under the bus.

Gomez is 26. The time is now for him to stake a claim and rediscover his 2019/20 form.

Konate is a big loss. He is a ‘mentality monster’ also. A real leader.

Think we could take that line and apply it to a few players right now tbh.

Is a bit mad in a way that the players we have doubts over at present are not older players heading into their twilight years but rather players that are in or close to what would be regarded as peak years.

Just looking at players in the 14 to 27 age bracket

                                TAA at 24
                                Gomez at 26
                                Jota at 26
                                Nunez at 24
                                Kelleher at 24
                                Philips at 26

All have folk on here questioning if they are good enough or capable of staying injury free long enough or capable of regaining old form.

I would even add Diaz at 26 to that list myself with this being a season during which he needs to show he can play in 30 league games and maintain good form.

Some of those names having shown in the past they could be very good, some are still in that maybe stage and poor old Philips is just hanging around because no club wants to buy him.

It is actually a lot of peak age players to have in a squad to have and not be able to say I am pretty sure that almost all of them will regain past form/get over having regular injuries
