If we are playing the traditional flat back four I agree but if we persist with Trent wandering around midfield Matip is not the answer to cleaning up the gap left behind.Originally posted by Charly View PostWhen fit, Matip is one of the best centeback we have had the past 30 years.
Id pick him over Gomez.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Although the "30 years" suggestion is a nonsense
Would be suicide asking him to cover TrentI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think going back to our traditional back four is the way to go, Endo, Macca and Dom will protect the back four (or back two) more than Fab and Hendo have done is recent seasons. Let's try it again, I also think having Trent in his old position might push Mo inward and let him do what he does best again.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Since we're including injury ridden players that seldomly turned up at CB Markus Babbel is above all of them and just under VvD. He only played as a world class RB because he was so fantastic and we had a need there.Originally posted by baitman View PostVvd

I know everyone is worried about no Konate but I'm more nervous about our brand new midfield against theirs.
If Endo starts it will be great to have Mac Allister back in an 8 where he is best.
Tonali was a good signing for them, and alongside Guimares and Joelinton I think they have a really strong midfield.
In the same fixture last season their midfield was Longstaff, Joelinton and Anderson. Today will be much tougher!
I know they have a good defensive record but we played through them easily at times last season. They are quite slow and static at the back. We are the perfect side to expose that.
If our new midfield clicks today I think we will win and possibly score 3/4.

Really looking forward to it myself. Keep reading how as soon as we face a decent team we'll be destroyed, so curious how it plays out. It will be a tough game, but they have a lot more to fear than we do. Would really love to see an Endo MOTM performance. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
