Oh right. Mac ahead of Szoboszlai at this stage for me.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A win here would be brilliant. They are a good side and have their tails up after spanking villa. Would be brilliant to get 3 points here
Yep. Win this and it’ll be a great start to the season. 7pts from 3 games, when 2 of them were away at Chelsea & Newcastle, would be excellent, especially considering how rubbish we were away from home across last season.

I’m confused now. Are you saying you want Thiago to start this big match after the lay off he’s had instead of MacAllister?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

If all our players were fully fit would Thiago make our starting XI and if so who would who he replace?

Argh right oh you’re talking hypotheticals. Depends on form but I’m just talking about this weeks match. Thiago is nowhere near ready to start such a big match as this IMO.

Not necessarily against Newcastle, but would this work:

              Ali
              TAA Konate VVD Robbo
              Endo
              Dom Mac Thiago
              Nunez Mo

              Ali
              Konate Endo VVD
              Thiago
              TAA …. Mac … Robbo
              Dom Nunez Mo

              *rotate Mo, Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo

Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold were both cleared to take part in Liverpool training on Tuesday

Endo, Mac and Szobo to start in midfield.

Gakpo as false 9 and Diaz and Salah as the wide forwards.

Usual back 5, that’s what I’d like to see

Makes sense - we'll need a dedicated DM in there for sure.

Any result would be good but a win absolutely fantastic and 7 points of the first 3 games would be a very good return considering.

A baptism of fire for Endo but needs must

Would go with the same as you

I was also half hoping TAA would miss this game so Gomez could come it at RB and force us to play with a traditional RB. Just wanted to see if playing with a proper back four and proper RB would we see a little solidity return at the back.

Though I suspect we will see Klopp persist with TAA in the inverted role with Gakpo either continuing in the midfield role ( which baffles me as it negates so much of what he is good at) or if Endo gets to start in the pivot beside TAA then Gakpo goes to the bench with Jota again getting the nod for the 9 slot.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Yep the four striker model should only be used for easier teams like Bournemouth or Man Utd. If Jota is now undroppable then Gakpo has to be benched for Endo against a dangerous but beatable Newcastle.

Yep. It’s nuts. TAA and Robbo are two of the best attacking fullbacks in the world. Gakpo has proved very effective in that centralised false 9 role. We’re not getting the best out of players.

Do you think Gakpo is being used in sub-optimal places because we want to play more with Nunez and need to work out where he fits best? Seems like it would be odd to play a 9 along with a false 9.
