So with Gravenberch being just 21 he doesn’t count in the 17 till next year does he?

He counts as U21 this year for the PL, but he can't be in the youth squad for Europe because he hasn't been eligible to play for us for 2 years, so he would need to take up a non-HG spot for that.

So we still have 1 spot left on our non HG roster for the league ( Andre at Xmas ) but I’m assuming the European roster is full then ?

That means next year we will have to sell someone. We wont be able to replace Salah with a foreign player.

I imagine Adrian, Matip and Thiago will probably moving on as all are out of contract next summer, they will free up 3 non HG slots if they leave

They are doing fine, they only have 12 non HG players in their squad, alot of people are either U21 or count as HG according to wikipedia which lists the status of each player

The European roster could be quite tricky the not being able to be registered on the European B list isn't just an issue for Gravenberch, but would also apply to Ben Doak, who was someone a number of us were hoping to see get some game time in the Europa league. Both Gravenberch and Doak along with 16 other non HG players would make it 18 players for 17 spots...

I read an article that said we’ll most likely not register Adrian for Europe as there’s provision in the rules that says if someone is injured for 30 days or more we can swap a fit player in & remove the injured player from the roster.

Makes sense. Also at least for the group stages I'd be happy to risk Pitaluga as our 3rd choice if it meant Doak getting a chance of a run of games

Williams & VDB have gone out on loan from memory so we are short a few players on the HG side as I see it.

We’ve got quite a few U21 players to call on with Elliot & Doak being the standouts that we can expect to see on the team sheet but we do look light on in this department .

Not sure where Bradley & Moreton fit into the scheme of things ( both U21’s I think? )

Revisiting the HG vs OS players situation & at present we have 2 definitely gone & possibly Adrian. Victor Jaros & Van Den Berg have had great loan spells overseas & both will be evaluated in PS as will Moreton & Carvalho. Elliot joins the HG list now does he not & Quansah is still U21?

I believe the cut off date for players to be on the youth list is they were born on or after 1st Jan 2003, that would mean both Elliott and Quansah have another season on the youth list, same applies to Bradley and Ramsay. Bajcetic remains on youth list for a couple more years. Van den Berg if he comes back would need to be registered in the main squad, as would Carvalho and Morton but all would count as HG

Also Pitaluga, Jaros, Beck, Koumetio and Lewis are all players who if we wanted them to be involved would need to be included in the main squad but would also count as HG.

There is merit in using a HG slot for a 3rd choice keeper but really you need players in these spots to be contributing something, I suspect that this year could be the last where there are a couple of free hit spots available.

With the players we have at the moment you would imagine those places are taken up by Kelleher, Gomez, TAA, Jones who are more or less nailed on (unless they leave), I would imagine that the other slots would be taken up by van den Berg, Morton, Carvalho and one from Phillips, Williams, Beck, Koumetio, Pitaluga and Jaros. In principle we could add a couple more if we didn't sign anymore non-HG players (the 8 HG players is a minimum) but I think that is unlikely, the players who don't make the squad will be either loaned or sold.
