Yep plenty of players have failed to impress in their time with us but that was one of the dumbest decisions Ged ever made.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

        Chuck in Cheyrou as well.

Diouf is up there, esp as it cost us Anelka who had just settled.

Houllier - we thought we were getting another Arsene Wenger. Turned out to be turgid Houf-ball, and instead of Henry, Pires and Viera we got Cisse, Cheyrou and Traore.

Absolutely **** eye for a player.

People will talk about the treble but he had Fowler, Owen, Gerrard, Litmanen, Hypia… we should have won a league with those players and he never got close.

Bizarre. Houllier was exactly what the club needed after Evans, to bring some discipline to the club and to start modernising the culture.

He bought Sami, Henchoz, Didi, Smicer () and Gary Mac was an inspired signing.

We won 5 bloody trophies ffs and who knows what might have happened if it wasn't for his heart issues afterwards. Things went to **** after that and we'll never know what might have been, but IMO it's bizarre for a Liverpool fan not to look back fondly on those first few years.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Houllier gave us our pride back. Anfield was bouncing again and that treble year was outstanding. The fact it turned sour after that doesn't spoil it for me.

I lost my **** with him after he took Hamman off in the Champions League game that we ended up losing. He did shore up the defence, but he relied on Gerrard to win games. If not for his contributions we would have struggled. But he did sort out the problems from Evans era... But then under Evans we played some great football. I liked Evans formation too. I just think Souness had run the team into the ground. Think of those kids coming through with a better team around them.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

A lot of it was joyless dog**** to watch and he bought some terrible footballers for big money, often seemingly for no other reason than because they were young and French / played in France. When Wenger bought young players from France they were top quality. We got Cisse, Salif Diao, Diouf, Le Gems, etc.

Made the dinner ladies at Melwood come in and work on Christmas Day too.

Houllier was exactly what we needed in the late 90's/early 00's in terms of modernisation in attitude and approach as a club, he did a great job in that regard and the treble was one of the greatest years of my football life (up to that point). The following year was when he had his heart attack and Phil Thompson managed the side for much of the season and we finished 2nd. I feel that after that season and the summer transfer business (not signing Anelka, bringing in Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou), our forward progress halted and the football we played was dull and very frustrating, I was going to almost every match then and was very frustrated by our play for much of the next couple of years under Houllier, so I can definitely agree with the frustration on this one.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
