Have to admit my gut feeling is he won’t be our next manager.

Yeah, Bayern using Bild the way Real use Marca.

Totally agree. If Alonso leaves Leverkusen this season I honestly believes it’s to us . Carlo just signed a new contract so I doubt he’s leaving & it’d be a huge slap in the face if he joined the opposition straight after depriving them of the title. And that’s why it makes perfect sense to join us. I think secretly we tapped him up & got a good response before Jurgen & his entourage announced they are all leaving a year early.

PS. You know it makes sense so stay away Kenneth
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

33 – Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso has won 33 of his first 50 Bundesliga matches as a coach, only Hansi Flick (40) and Pep Guardiola (42) have managed to record more victories in their first 50 matches in the competition.

Same. The longer it drags out the less confident I feel he'll join us.

Ruben Amorim also looks a great fit though, so I'd be fine with him if Xabi does betray us for the easy job. Joining a team that's won 11 league titles in a row is the coward's choice IMO. The Pep route to managerial success.

Guys, he’s in the middle of chasing a treble….. he won’t be talking to clubs, he’ll be focussed on the pitch. His agent might be sounding stuff out for sure.

I have no doubt Bayern are speaking to his agent, as are we, as are Chelsea, Barca etc…. You’d be mad not to. But, believing ****e from Sky Germany….. this is classic Bayern deflection because they are going bad plus also hoping to unsettle Leverkusen.

Plettenburg is another spoofer - the only thing I remember him for was waiting outside a hotel in Munich for Mane to arrive and he ran after a dark skinned guy because he arrived in an expensive car so he assumed it was Mane. A ****ing tool

I don't think Alonso will announce that he is leaving while they still are in a title race and the EL, or until the last week or so of the season regardless of where he's going, he won't want to distract the players.

Bayern is a concern as a former club, also a move to Bayern seems to be the most obvious in German football, getting the best people from their rivals is their MO. But hopefully he would prefer us and Bayern are just trying to get an advantage in what's left of the title 'race'

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                    It'd be unkind and disrespectful

They're unbeaten. Doesn't matter what Bayern did this year.

He won't announce it, but us and Bayern would need an agreement now, not at the end of the season. We have to plan for pre-season etc. We can't afford to wait until the end of a season for an answer surely?

I think he'll have made a decision already personally, then just left his agent to deal with everything.

I’d say the big wigs at the club pretty much know by now who or next manager will be. Any potential candidates will have left all the negotiations to their agents.

The timing of Klop's decision would have allowed the club to interview Xabi during their winter break too. I rekcon it's a done deal and Xabi asked us to keep it quiet til their season is over.

I don’t think xabi will choose Liverpool over Munich if he moves at all.

He’s a smart guy and I think he probably knows it isn’t a very easy gig post klopp with no current DoF.

If this is the case, I’d rather the club went for a more experienced candidate like a Thomas Frank or an Unai Emery.

Klopp hasn’t been around as long as Ferguson or Wenger but if you look at the experiences of United and Arsenal immediately post their great managers, it’s not going to be easy to follow on

You don't have to be smart to see Bayern is an easy gig. Guaranteed title pretty much.

On the flipside though they do burn through managers pretty fast. Liverpool could be viewed as a more stable job, where he will be given time to get things right?

Very hard to know what he's thinking and Bayern do always seem to get their man I'm afraid!
