Their set up is actually a little bit like that of Leverkusen under Alonso.
Is a 3-4-3/5-2-3.
All the defenders being quick, mobile and physical with one of the wing backs tucking/cutting in.
Like Alonso he has two deeper midfielders in the centre, but both are good on the ball and can advance play as well as shielding the back line.
Sporting probably press more than Leverkusen when they lose the ball, but not like Leverkusen are mugs at that either.
Like at Leverkusen the focus is on having the ball and using possession play to probe over and over and over in an attempt to pull the other teams midfield towards the flanks and then press centrally themselves in attack.
Front three swap flanks and positions throughout games.
Similar again to Alonso and will add Nagelsmann to the mix on this bit, Amorin seems to have developed a style that seems a meld of gegenpressing and patient possession football. The former when off the ball and reverting to the former as soon as the ball is won.
Is kind of like they have all taken the best bits of what Klopp does and tried to merge it with a lot of what Guardiola does.
