I don't really want to focus on Chelsea but I am completely baffled by their approach in extra time. They were on top towards the end of 90mins, with the players we had I really don't understand their approach. I know you can argue we had nothing to lose but it's situations like that where you should try and make experience count, about a third of our team at that point had less than 10 games first team experience.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think they were just knackered and didn’t have the motivation/spirit to push through the pain barrier. They probably thought they were odds on in the shootout which played into that. Their manager was actually trying to get them to go forward from the touch line.

I'm fascinated to know who our 5 were. Poch has admitted they were playing for pens.
Diaz
Elliot
Virgii
Tsmikas
Endo
???
Kelleher took a smart penalty last time round against Chelsea. After that tho, it's guesswork on how good they are...has Gomez appeared in a shootout for us?
I don't really get playing for pens in that situation, if you are down to 10 or something yeah, but they should also have been favourites in extra time.

On the footage they showed the ref, one of the angles was looking toward the goal as the ball was played - Endo only had eyes on Colwill, he never looked at the ball.
So from that, it looked clear that Endo’s intention was to block Colwills run (which he did), this made him ‘active’ in terms of the offside decision.
If Endo had been onside when the ball was played the goal would have stood.
Technically, the decision was correct.
So if Endo had no intention of challenging for the ball and was just intentionally blocking Colwill, would it not be a foul?
It’s like there’s 3 options- not interfering, interfering enough to give a foul, and not interfering enough to give a foul, but enough that if it is in an offside position, we’ll give offside.
I do get your point, but what annoys me is the inconsistency- this happens every time a free kick is taken, but I haven’t seen it punished until now. Theres always gonna be a foul that one ref gives in the moment, where a similar offense wasn’t punished or whatever, but I think we should be able to expect consistency with var decisions.

No, players do this all the time and it's never a foul - think of all the times players shield the ball from an opponent to get a throw in/corner/goal kick etc. They have no intention of playing the ball but they are actively blocking the opponent.

Exactly, it should be called a foul. So any obstruction from now on in the penalty area, even when defender runs into you and falls down because they ain't getting the ball anyway should be called a foul.
