Atalanta dominated us physically in the game, big side full of runners. I know Trent is great on the ball which could be used later on in the game but I would worry about him starting the game from a defensive perspective, especially given his lack of fitness.

I think 2 nil would have been doable, the third goal was a killer & we have been lacking momentum aswell. We are just not playing well enough at the moment & look wrecked, so yeah I am not optimistic about the outcome & fear we will be knackered for the Fulham game.
2-0 or 3-1 was do able, but we need to win by 3 goals away from home to take it to ET. It's not impossible, but it will be very difficult. Really just hoping we can get some kind of morale boast and players can build confidence and find a bit of form ahead of the remaining league games.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Gomez starting would be a god awful decision, unless Trent isn't fit for 90.
With the way he played in the home leg notwithstanding we clearly need players who can beat a man to usurp this system. I'm led to believe Atlanta don't change the system so setting up to exploit that system is key.
I doubt we have the legs for it given how we've been playing, so it doesn't really matter tbf

we do need a good performance & somehow a good performance without knackering ourselves for the league game on Sunday. I'm not sure if that's even possible unless they score early and we concede.

That is so true and was probably the biggest disappointment seeing us being bullied at home. So what's the answer. I'd say hound them relentlessly as in days of old without the ball and when we have it pass them to death. We have some proper ballers in our team.Originally posted by danperkins View PostAtalanta dominated us physically in the game, big side full of runners. Think we have done that a bit of late.
We defo took the lead in the first 20 or 30 minutes against the Mancs and against Sheffield United.
And then we took the foot off the gas after taking the lead.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Not recovered mentally from the home match. At least I can say I was at Jurgen's last European night at Anfield.
We're not progressing for sure, we'd need to A) Keep a clean sheet, B) Take our chances.
On recent evidence we're incapable of both A and B.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Tbf I thought we would do that at Anfield, also thought that for the second game against united and also Palace…. So not to confident this timeOriginally posted by Rich View PostI can genuinely see us winning 4-0 tonight, power through the semi and get humped in the final by Bayer. Not sure what's best...
Anyway, back to tonight - if we score early then there's a chance they fold.

Them being beaten 0-4 would be pretty unprecedented for them, they were beaten 3-0 away to Torino back in December but that was their biggest loss in years.Originally posted by Rich View PostI can genuinely see us winning 4-0 tonight, power through the semi and get humped in the final by Bayer.
