Not even fully sure why but I’m super excited for next season. Klopp has been transformational for LFC and thanks to him we are competing for Major trophies on a regular basis again.

This new set up with Edwards back and Now Slot to lead us into a new era, has a real feel good factor about it. I believe we are set up for good things in the next couple of years.

I read something right at the beginning of the manager search (when Alonso, Amorim and De Zerbi were the main names in the frame) that if Liverpool were seriously going down the data led approach, to not be surprised if turns out to be either Sebastian Hoeneß or Arne Slot.

We’re all trying to cope with the loss of one of our best ever managers, there’s no escaping that. I also think there’s a weird collective narrative thing going on, where hype builds for one candidate that becomes the good outcome, based on pretty much nothing, and thus everything else is a bad or at least worse one. People go through a mental process of accepting one change (Klopp to Amorim) but struggle to accept the next (theoretical) change (Amorim to Slot) because it’s a change too many.

We’re a football forum of people with barely a passing interest in the game beyond our club who knew nothing about anyone managing in the Portuguese or Dutch leagues a couple of weeks ago. None of our snap judgements are real or in any way meaningful but we can’t help but attach some value to them. “My gut feel is..”, and the next thing should be ‘irrelevant’, but instead it’s ‘De Zerbie with money might work’
