    Arne Slot

May i be the first to Welcome you to Liverpool!!!

please prove that not all Bald Dutch managers are ****.

I for one am very excited. With a lack of established managers available this guy is very highly rated.

Big boots to fill. Good Luck Arne!!!

Not even fully sure why but I’m super excited for next season. Klopp has been transformational for LFC and thanks to him we are competing for Major trophies on a regular basis again.

This new set up with Edwards back and Now Slot to lead us into a new era, has a real feel good factor about it. I believe we are set up for good things in the next couple of years.

From the Normal One to the [awaits first interview] One.

He has said of his philosophy: “I want as many good football players as possible in the team and I want to make them work as hard as possible. I believe that when we work to perfect our habits every day, we have more chance to cut out luck.”

I like this although hope he can change habits too, As we have perfected the habit of not scoring.

        Welcome Arne

Let’s hope this thread is still going strong in 10 years.

Everything is in place for him to be able to focus solely on coaching and utilise the great people we have working behind the scenes.

Welcome Arne. I can’t say I know that much about him but if the powers to be rate him that’ll have to do for us too. I do hope Pep stays on as his advisor to help in the transition period.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I read something right at the beginning of the manager search (when Alonso, Amorim and De Zerbi were the main names in the frame) that if Liverpool were seriously going down the data led approach, to not be surprised if turns out to be either Sebastian Hoeneß or Arne Slot.

            Arne Slot it is.

We were bad enough so long and Klopp is so good we have imposter sydrome. Have we truly improved under Klopp or has Klopp carried us to greatness?

A seamless transition would prove far more than anything we've won so far.

Exciting and scary. No different to any other massive match day, but on a bigger scale.

The coping mechanism in this thread is astounding.

Now that it's him, can someone please share this wonderful data that's led us here?

We’re all trying to cope with the loss of one of our best ever managers, there’s no escaping that. I also think there’s a weird collective narrative thing going on, where hype builds for one candidate that becomes the good outcome, based on pretty much nothing, and thus everything else is a bad or at least worse one. People go through a mental process of accepting one change (Klopp to Amorim) but struggle to accept the next (theoretical) change (Amorim to Slot) because it’s a change too many.

We’re a football forum of people with barely a passing interest in the game beyond our club who knew nothing about anyone managing in the Portuguese or Dutch leagues a couple of weeks ago. None of our snap judgements are real or in any way meaningful but we can’t help but attach some value to them. “My gut feel is..”, and the next thing should be ‘irrelevant’, but instead it’s ‘De Zerbie with money might work’

Hang on, let me just ask Michael Edwards if he can email it to me.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
