What we can offer Enrique is a damn hard job that if he succeeded in would come with a level of adulation that he would get at few other clubs.

He can win the exact same trophies at other clubs, but maybe a little easier thanks to those clubs having more ways to fund teams or those teams being able to rest during their league campaigns in order to focus on the CL.

But if he is a football romantic, then we can offer him the same sort of personal financial rewards as the other clubs and the chance to earn legendary status within the game through achieving with a "legacy" club.

We are the hard road, the forge that makes or breaks, the one where those with the talent that matches their egos/confidence can have their names sung long long after they are gone.

Alonso has achieved something remarkable at Leverkusen that very very few managers can or seemingly will ever be able to do in winning a Bundesliga over Bayern.

Outside of what Enrique has achieved it’s miles better than any of the others have achieved.

I think it’s time to get him. Slot can still leave having achieved good things overall and damage limited if LFC keep CL football

Slot will never win the fans back, and it seems like the players are not bending over backwards to defend him as well.

And I think Hughes needs to go as well, I don't think he provided Slot with close to everything he needed and he shoulders blame too for the team losing it's identity so fast.

If a new guy comes in and does well, then every single other linked name from now will be forgotten.

Getting in a guy, any guy, just to avoid any future "we should have brought him in over X" conversations is the worst possible reason to want someone in.

We need to go for who we think is the best fit for how we want to move forward as a club and also for the type of players we might have deals in the pipeline for right now.

If Alonso is the guy wanted, then go all out for him, if it is Inzaghi go all out for him and so on for whomever is deemed to be the right guy is.

For me it needs to be a guy with both an established style but who as also shown himself to be very adaptable within that style. Note I am saying style of play rather than formation.

Do think a guy with a superior man management record is preferable too. A guy used to dealing with big names and who has a track record of getting the big names to do the same as the lesser names. Think this is one of the reasons I would not want Nagelsmann as I have doubts about how he deals with players.

For me it is pretty simple.

Enrique = least risk but the most difficult to get.

Inzaghi = low to medium risk and in final year of his current contract come June. The fact he has been reported to have started English lessons since last Autumn is interesting imo. Tried and test in terms of experience. Great track record in terms of man management, meant to be one of the best in the game on that score. Very fluid style of play on the pitch. Very Enrique-esque the way he gets players to switch during games and his ability to change things in game is of a high level. For me he manages teams the way a top teir switch hitter boxes. Fluid and difficult to read/counter. Think he would be a hell of a manger if he moved up a tier to a club like Liverpool.

Alonso = Medium risk. Decent experience but zero experience of rebuilding from a low base and no long term signs of being able to handle things at a high level...yet. Interesting style of play. Slow build ups, not unlike that of Slot, but generally there is more intent in his slower set ups than the slow for the sake of it slow play we have seen this season. Don't really care about past connections with the club as look at the likes of Shankly and Klopp..our best tend to be able to find common ground with the city and fanbase without that past connection. Having the right character is having the right character.

Iraola - High risk imo. Great season with Bournemouth, but think he might be like Graham Potter in that he may be better suited to occassionaly upsetting the bigger teams than being able to dominate with a big team.

Hoeneß - High risk also. Sets up like Klopp used to. Has hard working and hard pressing teams. Does have a few hundred games of maganerial experience under his belt, but think he is a bit like Iraola for me in that he might be better as an underdog than as a guy expected to be on top.

Nagelsmann - hardest of them all to guess at for me. Has done really well statistically at RB Leipzig, Bayern and Germany. All his teams have high win %'s vs their squad quality. Has won silverware, can be flexible tactically and at only 38 years of age has a ton of high level experience for that age. But I do doubt his man management skills and do wonder if he is one of those guys that peaks really young as a manager and then gets stuck in his ways by the time he is in his early 40s. The flip side is at 38 he could go on to be an amazing manager with decades at the highest level aghead of him if he fell in love with a club and worked out there. But I suspect he will be a guy that moves a lot over the course of his career and may prefer the money clubs as the ones where he works. So kind of expect him to end up at City or PSG or similar in the future.

    All imo of course.

I do think there’s a lot of toxicity from this season that Slot would bring with him into next season, much of which isn’t his fault but doesn’t mean it’s not there.

So for that reason alone I think I would roll the dice on someone like Alonso and possibly Iroala. Don’t know enough about Hoeness or Inzaghi to have an opinion on them.

Enrique would be amazing but that rumoured contract extension probably rules him out

Inzaghi for me is far far more proven than any of the other (gettable) names on the list.

Almost a decade managing in Italy, with four of those years being a good spell at Inter, makes him an easier guy to look at and know what his style of play is, how he gets on with players, how he gets players to buy in pretty much in his first season at each club and how they tend to run through walls for him.

Also like the fact that he has past players constantly coming out to praise his methods, to praise how he moulded and improved them and to pretty much laud him on all aspects of what he did. Do think we wouyld see a first season bounce under him and then a season on season improvement as time went by.

Pretty much all the other names we have been linked with have less high level experience to judge them by (Nagelsmann probably being the exception there despite his young age) and none of them have shown the first season improvement at every club they have been at type thing that Inzaghi has shown three times now.

Hoeneß for me is the biggest risk on the list of linked names. I like how he sets his team up, possibly because it reminds me of how Klopp used to set up his Dortmund teams, but not sure how he would go with much higher expectations.

Alonso would be my after Inzaghi choice but think that right now Alonso is a level or two below Inzaghi. Maybe he will get to that level in a few seasons, but he is far less proven than him at present.

Iraola I have a suspicion might have it in him to be the manager of a big or biggish club but I think that big club will eventually be one in La Liga. Something about how he sets up strikes me as being good in the PL but better in Spain.

Nagelsmann I would not want at all, but cannot deny that he gets results and almost any decent squad that he gets his hands on end up with a damn good win ratio. Could well be that he becomes much much better as he gets older and that he goes on to be top tier, but he just has something I cannot take to about him.

Enrique the Unobtainable (sounds like a GoT'S character ) I reckon would walk into our club and by the start of his second season would have moulded us into a team with a very clear and distinctive style of play and a style of play that made us hell for the majority of teams we came up against. Think he may well be a Klopp or Guardiola level manager (peak versions of both) and that he is the only manager in the game today that looks to be a obvious shout to say he is at that level.

Now as to who the right man is...well that is a tricky question imo as there are very few managers out there that I think are even close to being a sure fiure thing.

For me the only guy out there that is close to being a sure fire thing is Enrique and my guess is that he is not gettable. Love to be proven wrong on that though

Alonso, Inzahgi (my own preference), Iraola, Hoeneß, Nagelsmann and pretty much all the other names that have been linked to us all are far less certrain imo as to whether they are good enough.

For me Inzaghi would be the best choice after Enrique, then maybe Alonso, Nagelsmann (and I am not his biggest fan) , Iraola and Hoeneß in that order.

Basically a perfect storm of what could go from from a tragedy to coaching issues to players getting called top class when they are over the hill and to maybe other players that simply don't give a toss anymore as they get paid no matter how **** they are.

Been a lot of things this season that on their own could damage a season, but we had a number all at the same time.

Change is defo needed on the coaching side of things, but for me I think quite a few of the so called top talents have peaked (be it physically or mentally depending on which player) and are well on the down slide when it comes to what they can offer us.

I think it's plainly obvious that the players just don't buy into Arne Slot and the style of play & neither do the fans.. for me it's pretty simple.. it's down to this manager

It feels more like the players just don’t enjoy the football they are being asked to play and probably, like everyone else, don’t understand the plan. They are top athletes and know what it takes to be successful. Maybe they’re not happy with the training methods, the lack of fitness and everything else.

They are going out there trying to play the way they're being asked to do but know it’s not working and hasn’t all season. There looks to be a lot of frustration in the squad. Not just with all this but the lack of opportunities for other members of the squad while players who continually underperform keep getting picked.
