    I would say October.

How long should he be given?

Think shy of a complete collapse he would get at least well into his second season to show he is the right man for the job.

Reckon the bar will be set at getting a CL spot through the league next season and anything more would be a bonus.

Second season to be back in the title chase.

Every manager (except Hodgson) should get two years minimum imo.

4th place next season is a successful season.

I agree with all that. I think opinions will differ greatly if he leads the team to say 5th-7th next season but even then if it looked like there was progress from the start of his season then I’d give him a second.

More than 7th after one season and that could be tricky especially if other managers like xabi become available

Think if he finished 5th to 7th next season it would be seen as a poor season.

Not a sacking level of poor but a need a good first half of a second season to counter it kind of poor.

Anything above 5th would be a good season for him and us imo.

Imo we shouldn’t be aiming for anything less than top 4 next season. The structure of the club is there. Arne will be head coach, without other distractions and I’m sure top four+ will be his aim too.

The first season is to imprint his style of play and assess the current squad, the second season is to sell the players that don't fit the system and bring in ones that do. Third season is about fine tuning.

Obviously this doesn't include injury issues that could hinder any of the stages but I think this is the general gist.

Klopp had a discernable style by the first six months, then started bringing in players that could elevate the system. Lallana and Hendo were great beneficiaries of this.

Ten Haag doesn't have anything close to a recognisable system in his second season - he's ****.

What I want to see most of all is that he has a plan in mind, a plan that involves good, attacking football, not counter attacking, soak up pressure stuff, but front foot play. If that means we have to miss a season while he gets the right players in, or he gets the players he has already to learn a different style, then i think a blip of a season is acceptable.

Although its a minimum requirement next season will be tough.

if we did drop back and top 2 stayed the same.

Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa and United have way deeper pockets than us and could be a couple of big signings off improving.

Although as long as bar Emery they keep the same Lemons in charge we should be ok.

Good start is imperative which means we will be ****ed over on the fixtures!!

Fully agree with this, 4th place should be minimum requirement.

He’s taking over a side that sustained a title challenge until the last 5 games of the season & one which suffered significant injuries, not to mention scandalous refereeing decisions.

If he’s a good manager, he should be able to take this squad and get top 4 at least.

Potentially going to be a lot of player turnover though.

Plus, he's going to have to coach us on what defending is again.

This is said season after season after season but never materialises.

Chelsea are ****ed and couldn't make a decent signing if they tried. Newcastle have to sell to buy. Villa have enough for a decent signing. Man Utd's entire structure is **** and good players won't save them.

Spurs might improve, Villa might improve, I think Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Wolves will be the most improved next season.

I doubt it's a realistic target for next season. Top four and a cup run, player improvement, and a cohesive style of play are the to-do list for the season.

Oh and stop ****ing conceding first. Every. Single. Game!

Yeah I think top 4 next season is the benchmark we should be hoping for. The local Cups for kids & a mixture of experience & kids in the CL when & where possible.
