When we followed up the Mane signing with Salah the following year, things were really exciting. Mo really hit the ground running starting at Watford away on the opening day of the season and pretty much scored every game. Firmino was signed during Brendans time but Jurgen made him into a brilliant player that essentially allowed Mane and Salah to go to other levels too because he was such a good partner for him. People have made good cases for Wjinaldum too.

Best transfer was indeed Coutinho going out imo as well.


Best inbound one during Klopp's reign? I would put my hat on the getting of Alisson.

Think getting him in was transformative and gave us that last line of defense we simply would not have with any other keeper save.


You could argue that Salah was best in the world in his position, VVD in his, TAA as an attacking RB and so on and so on. But replace any of them with the second best or third best in the world and we would still have been a major force.


Replace Alisson with a keeper that is still world class but a few levels below Ali? I'm not so sure the ten outfield players could have made up the difference.


Take that amazing 19/20 team and take Ali out of it and that team does not get 99 points imo.


Put Ali back in and remove any one of the outfield players and replace them with a simily "top tier" player and I think we might still have gotten 99 points.


Ali has been the difference between a win and a draw or a draw or a loss too many times for me not to think he has been the glue that kept things together. So many good wins saw him keep out shots that seemed destined to be goals when the games were still scoreless or when we were hanging on a bit.


Plus for the outfield players, the attacker gets by you and he is one on one with Ali, you still much have it in your head that that is Alisson ****ing Becker between the sticks and he is going to ensure your cock up does not get punished.
