He is rapid already. How long it takes to get there I don't know but he's one of the fastest players at top speed.Originally posted by Corndog View PostI’d say it comes down to whether he is pacey enough post ACL.
The prem is definitely the fastest league in the world. If he’s lost explosive acceleration, that’s tough for a winger.
Still worth the risk at that price though.
I don’t expect him to start all the time, think he’ll be a squad player but definitely a good one to come on

I don't think it's anything like the Balotelli transfer.Originally posted by 5europeancups View Postthis signing has something of the balotelli's about it. Its a risk strategy. Liverpool havent taken risks in recent years in the transfer market. They have bought based on facts.
Lets see, I really hope he works out for us and for him.
Had we sold Mo and Chiesa was being brought in as a direct replacement then yeah you could make that analogy.
As it stands Chiesa is being brought in to add depth up front and not be the lead striker on a team who's just sold it's best player.

Plus, I haven't heard Chiesa has a history of being a massive bellend either! We are here for a good time not a long time....

It's a risk in that we are hoping he regains his old form but other than nationality it is far more of a safe bet compared to getting in a waster like Balotelli.
For one thing Chiesa works his arse off in games and tends to give his all in attack and when defending so unlike Balotelli I do not think a lack of effort or poor attitude will be an issue.
The second thing is that Chiesa showed plenty of signs in the season just gone of getting his mojo back, he simply was not in favour with the current manager at Juve.
Reckon if he does flop we would make our money back with maybe a little profit after a year or two, but if he hits the heights he once did then pretty much all our wide players save for probably Salah will have to up their games to not become Chiesa's back up.
Personally I think he is a very low cost (in football terms anyway) punt at getting in Salah's replacement and at the same time a very low cost punt at being "the guy" on the left should Salah stay beyond this season.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

He still looks fast indeed but I’ve read some mixed stuff from juve fans.Originally posted by labourRed View PostHe is rapid already. How long it takes to get there I don't know but he's one of the fastest players at top speed.
Gakpo is fast when he gets going but he’s not explosive off the mark so it’d be nice if chiesa had that acceleration.
If he does, there looks to be a real good mix of wingers and they’re all pretty versatile.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

This could go in the style of play thread too but has anyone noticed how many balls are deliberately being played into Salah's feet despite his back to goal with the defender being right up his arse? Never saw this under Klopp. It immediately releases any high press pressure. If Salah can turn the defender or lay it off it's an almost direct goal scoring chance with Jota and Szob lurking nearby.
Chiesa fits that tactic perfectly. He loves turning his man, nutmegging him, using his body to shield, running at pace once free, etc. And of course his finishing looks top notch, plus he's a high chance creator for others too.One tit for another.

He looks a good signing, we were linked with him a few years ago for alot higher fee and we couldn't make it happen. Obviously he has had a major injury since, which given our record with players is something of a worry, but at the price we have paid it looks a no brainer, what makes me nervous is that Juventus wanted rid and were willing to sell for such a low price, just seems very odd given how high profile he was...
Bottom line is we have got him for the price of young fairly inexperienced players so either it works out and is a bargain, or it doesn't and our loss is largely just his wages. Seems a win winThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Just knocked up some numbers, i think Gakpo is around Mbappe speed but you'd expect the latter (as you would messi) to beat a man for pace all day long as he has Henry level of acceleration. Just a bit of fun but...Originally posted by Corndog View PostHe still looks fast indeed but I’ve read some mixed stuff from juve fans.

One thing of note from Fred's highlights videos is his ability to be very direct and do close control dribbles through packed defences. He could be vital to unlocking parked buses.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
