It's possible that Diaz and Gakpo suffer an injury or one and injury and the other a lack of form. Chiesa will have a part to play this season, he's a cracking little player!

Such a relief to hear that. Italians are notorious for not converting their continental form to the north of England.
      One tit for another.

        Average ones yes.

A cameo that suggests he deserves more minutes. He was the most productive forward on the pitch and only played about 15 mins, had one good chance and a goal. Slot needs to lean into the squad and trust them.

Play him centrally instead of Jota and Nunez.

The fact he hasn't got more of a chance is bizarre. It's been a disaster of a signing.

The formation was a shambles at the end… Dom at CB I think, but it looked like Chiesa was playing through the middle?

I'm still convinced he'll be here next season and possibly as our No.9. A full preseason and some new players.

Barring the Plymouth game when everyone was **** I think he’s been good every time he’s played. He’s direct and can chip in with goals which is something we need if Mo isn’t scoring.

Definitely not a disaster of a signing.

Small fee and he's only had one poor performance against Plymouth wherein the whole team were new to each other and ****e.

If we had signed Endo in the summer you'd be saying the same...

The truth is Slot just doesn't trust certain players (or prefers to play the same team).

I think he has to learn on that front - might get away with that in Holland but not here. I think he was clear on periodisation but the plan fell a little short, as we've seen these last few weeks/months.

It's a disaster in the sense that we signed someone who hasn't really contributed whatsoever and who the current manager really doesn't seem to trust and is reportedly on 120k pw. You can't explain it away with 'Ah it's a low transfer fee so it's fine', it is a signing and new players don't have to be big money signing to make a real difference to the team. We've barely seen what Chiesa looks like ffs, it's all a bit odd.

But we could sell him for double what we paid which would more than make up the 120k wages

                          Cost: 10m
                          Wages: 120k per wk
                          Selling fee: 20m

                          20m - (10m + (0.12 x52)) = 3.76m profit

                          Not a disaster

We could but we have not benefitted for his signing on the pitch where it matters most and he hasn't helped the team get results. Not only that we've actually hardly seen him, the whole thing is weird. I said disaster signing, not financial disaster.

Ah ok, it seems you just have a different definition of ‘disaster’ than me

I’d agree if he had played, missed sitters or got sent off which cost us games. Or caused issues/rifts in the squad or did stupid stuff off the pitch. Or if signing him meant we missed out on another target.

Not contributing on its own, isn’t a disaster. We can move him on with no real impact

I think what Dan means by "disaster" is a signing that hasn't worked out yet and might or might not yet. It's a bit like his match threads commentary where we're "dog****" but only dog**** in the sense of the opposing team trying to win too but us still being top of the league. The sort of dog**** that if you walked in it, you'd be quite pleased. It's a nuanced use of normally negative terms. He's making insults great again by inverting their meaning.
