I dont think there is a home grown stipulation, just a limit on "foreign". No idea why some kids got a place and Bradley didnt.

I think they can all be used regardless of being in tbe named squad. Maybe it was to give the young'uns a morale boost. Bradley probably wont be worried either way.His star is rising fast.

The answer was in the post above yours :

Several members of the Reds’ senior squad – including Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah – are eligible but do not need to be included on List A due to their ages and club-trained status.

The other reason that players like Nallo and Nyoni are registered in the main squad is because to be eligible for the youth squad you have to have been at the club for at least 2 years, they haven't so they wouldn't be able to play unless they are registered in the main squad. We have space for them in the main squad because players like Elliott, Bradley and Quansah don't need to be on the main list.

Morton and Hill are 21 and turn 22 this season so are too old for the youth squad so again to play need to be on the main squad list.

In terms of maximising the number of players it makes sense to keep as many senior players as possible on the B list and fill up any remaining unused slots in the main squad with youngsters than might otherwise not be eligible to play.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This format is boated and ****.

Just 3 wins from 8 games is enough to progress from the group stage.

A ****load of football matches played for very little elimination.

Could be worse. The qualifying for the European Championships is something like 380 games to go from 50 to 32. At least this is 160 to go from 36 to 16

Yep as with all the expansions to other tournaments, it's all about farming more games and more money.

What determines which of the two they play? is there a level of country protection or rule against meeting a team you already played or something that means they can't say 9th plays 24th, 10th 23rd etc

Largest brown paper bag gets the softer draw

The draw determines which side of the bracket you end up on. From there on it's predetermined. So, no country protection or anything like that.

I don't go to games, so it doesn't matter much to me, but one of the comments above made me think - sthg like "We need more games given our squad is bigger". I would turn that around and say we need a bigger squad because of all these games. But if we need a bigger squad, then to be competitive we need to generate more revenue. That means more commercialism within the club. Ultimately it means higher ticket prices. And no, it's not about FSG - that would be the case whoever. Basically UEFA are bleeding fans. I have no sympathy for Man U fans, but their slogan of 'Stop Exploiting Loyalty" is a rallying cry for all fans.

Many of you might have forgotten, this, but there was a time when Chelsea were derided for having 24 players in their squad - " What? That's 2 teams!"
All of the top clubs now have at least 2 teams.

Progressed teams and minimum earnings assuming last 16 exit, teams 9th to 24th are €11,000,000 less if they lose in the play-offs

Also, because of draws in the group stage the €275,000 per position mentioned in the group stage actually increases to €293,918.92
