I was all for playing Elliott instead of Dom, but Slot didnt even bring him on as a sub before he got injured (dunno if its because he doesnt rate him, he does press well despite his size). Im not sure Dom is the right fit for the AM position, as he is a proper box to box type, and I reckon we need a playmaker in there.

Jones would be the other option, another player I really rate.

But how about swapping Dom with Macca? Im not sure we are getting the best out of him either in a deeper role, so a swap might play to both their strengths?

It isn't a case of one player has to be the ****test. Only two or three played well yesterday.

Salah has been good this season as the numbers suggest, yet if he'd have been hooked at half time he'd only have himself to blame.

Szoboszlai has been poor the second half of last season and most of this. Curtis when he gets up to speed following injury may take his place.

He may do and deserves a chance. But I disagree that Dom has been poor. He's part of a well functioning midfield and a defensively solid side. His running is a big part of that a bit like Gini.

I am a bit concerned we can't drop Salah because we're afraid he'll leave for free. Hopefully I'm wrong. And hopefully he makes himself undroppable and we never need to find out.

Villa drew with Ipswich so despite all of these underperforming players we are clear at the top after 6 games. Tougher games to come.
