I don't care if we lose this and it seems neither does Slot - we can afford to lose this battle as the war is far great!

I don’t think they will think that we think they’re a walkover- I’m sure they’ll just realize that we are prioritizing the game at the weekend, cos we’ve already secured top 2.
I feel like finishing as high as possible in the table to get themselves an easier draw is all the motivation they will need.I don't tip

That’s my take on it too
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

They beat us and the reward could potentially be getting a game against our full strength team down the line
I think that might have been on Slot's mind too when he picked his squad for the game.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

This is about the bigger picture from our point of view, win lose or draw makes little difference (finishing first or second is much of a muchness). Getting a lot of regular players rested for other games and not risking injuries is the priority, it also gets minutes into some of the players who haven't played so much and potentially gives some of the kids experience. PSV have alot more to play for which will make it a tough game for the players out there, but IMO this is the right approachThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm sure, like the rest of us, the players find his honesty refreshing. If he came out and said the usual bull**** about it being an important game and he's not thinking Bournemouth, nobody would believe him, so not sure how that would motivate the players.Originally posted by memzey View PostI do wish Slot hadn’t said the game doesn’t matter. It feels like it might be negative to the players urgency/motivation. I think momentum in football is enormous and I’d like us to keep ours going.
Plus, more importantly, this group of players will all be trying to make an impression for their own reasons, to try and break into the squad or try and keep their place, it will be a hugely important game to them individually. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Not to contradict my last comment, but I agree with Memzey, that momentum is important.Originally posted by labourRed View PostI don't think dead rubbers are considered in that.
It doesn't matter if we lose this, but if we have a couple of other bad results and this is lumped in, the narrative soon changes, ignoring any context.
It happened just recently with the draws, playing well, playing with 10 men, fighting back for a draw didn't mater, the headline was 1 win in 5. A defeat here could soon make other headlines.
So basically a defeat in isolation is fine, but it needs to pay off and help us get the 3 points against Bournemouth etcIf we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Seems a little bizarre at the back, but pleased to see Danns getting a start. I hope he gets a few chances. Will be interesting to see how long Chiesa lasts as well - isn't it his first start?Originally posted by RedReet View Post#LFC v PSV: Kelleher; Bradley, Quansah, Robertson, Tsimikas; McConnell, Endo; Chiesa, Elliott, Gakpo; Danns.
