They still had ten shots taken inside the box so they were not short of clear cut chances.Originally posted by Pablo View PostThey battered us but look how many of their shots are from outside the box! They barely had a shot in front of goal. We defended brilliantly.
What did make me laugh last night was when after the game misery guts Hamann said on Irish tv probably the only accurate things he said all game when saying that if we had a lesser keeper in goals that we would have lost.
Straight away the lead presenter, Joanne Cantwell, jumped on the comment like it was a diss against Kelleher and she threw in a line that was something along the lines of "You saying the Man from Cork is a lesser keeper" that had me both punching the air and howling with laugher when Didi had a bit of a glazed look and seemed uncertain what to say for a moment.
As an aside I think Cantwell is a cracking sports presenter be it for footy, GAA or Rugby. Very articulate, quick witted, has obvious knowledge of a number of sports and of course is an ex sports person herself so understands what it feels like to be part of a team as well.
Really like how she is able to throw in little wry comments without ever letting things descend into non stop banter.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Think if one game can be used to highlight the importance of something we once had and need again it was last night's game.
PSG, on both flanks, showed just how effect it is to have two pacy full backs sitting behind wingers with genuine pace.
Time after time their full backs would camp on the centre line, or in our half, and then be there to facilitate their wingers.
We had zero pace on our flanks (or anywhere up front) until Nunez came on.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Yeah saying this last night, we just couldn't handle their pace, pace absolutely everywhere and add intensity to that, we just couldn't handle it. Mo and Diaz are quick but not speedsters, Trent and more so Robbo really couldn't get to grips with their wingers or their fullbacks. Watching Robbo these days is painful. It is a real problem and hopefully more energy in the midfield can help mitigate that threat.

When the winger came straight at robbo he was able to put a block in most of the time.
Trouble was when the ball was played into space behind robbo he looked like he was running in wet concrete.
Once we went to a more compact "turtle" formation (shields up) there was less space for their wingers to cut through.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Robertson was the more unlucky of our FBs last night for me as he was up against the PSG flank that has blistering pace.
PSG's left flank is quick, but their right flank is another level again for pace.
He had Hakimi and Dembele coming at him all game long and Diaz was not doing an awful lot of effective tracking back and neither was Diaz enough of a pace threat to force Hakimi to sit a bit deeper so that Roberston only had one player to contend with.
What was very interesting last night is how we fared against a team that was set up very much in a Klopp style and that was full of really good players in their prime.
Yes we relied on a Doc P tier performance from Alisson, but we did see how a Slot team would go in terms of tactic and formation against a faster team that presses like mad and that holds possession well.
Put a bit more pace and physicality into our starting XI last night, specifically in both FB positions and on one of the wings, and I think we would have weathered the storm better and been far more of a threat on the counter.
Would go as far as to say if Bradley and Gomez were fully fit and they started at RB and LB, that we would have been better able to build from the back.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
