Wow. I grew up in 1980s Liverpool but not 1940s Germany. I do think they were a little different though.. I mean one exterminated 6m Jews, and the other had Degsy Hatton.. who ultimately exterminated himself...Originally posted by Friend of Moises View PostYep. Exactly that. It's an open fan forum, let it breathe. Number of posts for either matters not. This isn't 1940s Germany or 80s Liverpool Labour where only the self-proclaed great can have a voice. Embrace, think differently and grow up is my only advice.
Poor performance today and all our players bar Kelleher, Elliot & Chiesa should bow their heads in shame, Salah particularly. We were **** and got dominated.Really?

How is the great Mo Salah getting away with no mention in the ****e department.Originally posted by danperkins View PostDiaz, Szob and Mac had stinkers too.
Big game player, he is not. Cant even dribble past Dan ****ign Burn ffs. Absolutely anonymous for most of the game and bar one little outside of the foot pass did absolutely nothing all game.
300k+ a week earners don't disappear in big games like he has.
Yet another example of why he shouldn't be getting a long term deal on stupid money."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

I have been saying that for a while
His shooting is great. But he can barely move to get into shooting positions. His end of season dip (that he has every season) is now exposing how much of a paperweight he is without the service we need to give him to get those goals and assists.
Fair enough if we structure the team aound Mo, then by all means give him that contract (personally I think that would be a mistake). But its pretty clear to everyone now that take away the goals and assists, and there is almost nothing there. There is almost no threat down the right flank (and the left one is pretty **** too at the moment). He has no pace to run in behind, and certainly cant beat a player.
This makes some interesting reading:
Obviously top class when it comes to the shots and creating chances. But he is barely involved a lot of the time, his defensive metrics are in the bottom 2-3% for wingers in Europe. He hardly helps out at the back, his dribbling is below average, he gets tackled alot and miscontrolling is in the bottom decile. Number of crosses bottom quartile.
He used to score highly on many of these. His legs just dont move like they used to. IF he were to keep up the scoring and assisting he is managing this season, into the next three years, then you might argue he deserves a new contract. But on what terms?
If he was desperate to stay and compete, he would accept reduced terms as a squad player, which I honestly think he would have to be, even if its playing every game for the first half of the season and sitting on the bench the second. I worry about replacing him, but we need to do so sooner rather than later. We can sell Nunez and use that money and Salah's wages to fund a new player. Then promote Danns. Mabe there is some value in Diaz. HE was on fire at the start of this season, but just looks like a different player now. Jota just looks broken out there. Gakpo needs to get match fit. I think we need to give Chiesa an opportunity too. I have not been impressed so far, but nobody else is doing it, we may as well. Even Elliott could play down the right if Slot has the balls to drop Salah.
Ultimately, Id love him to stay, but his wage demads have to be realistic. Our squad needs a fair bit of work. A whole new defence. And some major work on the attack. Slot needs 2 more midfielders he can trust too. The money just isnt there for all of that. 300-400k on wages is just obscene, imho.Last edited by Charly; 17-03-25, 02:53 AM.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

His ego cant handle itOriginally posted by labourRed View PostI get that. But why not drop him occasionally or hook him. Like I said earlier, it's weak."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Look out, you'll rile up a certain Scot shooting off facts like these about the great Mo Salah...Originally posted by Charly View PostI have been saying that for a while

how long have you had this post saved in drafts? Can feel you rubbing your hands together.
Salah was poor yesterday, but not sure that summarises his season and identifies him as a non big game player. I think it identifies us as a one threat team.Modifying post.

Salah was pretty terrible but he was feeding on scraps and didn’t get much in the way of support. Diaz saw way more of more of the ball but Trippier did a number on him.
Slot left it far too long to see it wasn’t working, Howe out thought him.Last edited by rudedog; 17-03-25, 08:00 PM.
