It's getting a bit frustrating not seeing players that clearly have desire *and* ability get at least 10 or 15 minutes on the pitch. I think Chiesa can be our new Shaqiri if only he was trusted on the pitch.

How he starts every game is beyond me. He's offering next to nothing these days. He's a huge part of the reason we are sitting at the top but that in itself shouldn't be the reason he starts every game at present. I think slot feels he has zero choice but to comply because there's the contract stick being played. Drop him and he's off.

How our best player, with 32 goals and 22 assists, starts every game is beyond you?

The poor form has been about 5 games and largely coincides with him playing at a sport at the highest level without having eaten or drank for about 12 hours.

Even then he still has 2 goals and an assist from that. If someone like Elliott or Chiesea had come in and done that in Salah's place, loads of you would be calling for them to stay in the team!

You let the best players play through patches of bad form, they rarely last very long.

          That's in all comps though.

In the one comp we are left in, his return over the past five games is 4 goals and 3 assists.

He is undroppable in the league for me. His numbers in the league are simply silly at this point.

I would however be rotating Chiesa in more on the left flank or even starting him more on the left flank along with subbing Chiesa in as an AM or false 9 for some games. He might be best on the right but he is damn good in any of the other attacking position.

Playing every minute does help with getting those goals and assist stats though.

Slots use of chiesa and Elliott is poor to be honest. Chiesa did more in a 10 minute cameo than any of oit forwards had done for several matches. His reward. Not getting on again. Weird ****. It's not like either of them are sulkers.

Being physically capable of playing every minute while also mainting his rate of G/A is what makes him elite.

It does help, but it certainly doesn’t guarantee anything. Lots of other players get the same minutes and don’t get anywhere near these goal and assist stats. Sometimes it’s ok to recognise a phenomenal effort. The desire to rip into a player (not saying you do this btw) the moment their level drops is the online fan writ large.

The ‘poor form’ is also just ‘standard winger form’ for the majority of wide players.

He’s now gone 4 games without any G/A though, and hasn’t really contributed in those games in any meaningful way.

When we have become so reliant on him, this drop off in form is a worry.

He scored twice v Southampton, so it’s 3 games.

But even ignoring that, even the best have occasional dips in form.

And that speaks volumes about the other players who do not make up some of the shortfall on the rare occasions Salah does not get a goal or assist.

30 games in the league and he has 27 goals and 17 assists. He has more than bought himself some leeway with that.

The vultures on here are always circling Salah, ready to swoop in to back up a point they made 3 seasons ago, the second he goes a game or 2 without a G or A. That is despite him having t-w-e-n-t-y s-e-v-e-n (27) League goals and s-e-v-e-n-t-e-e-n (17) assists in 30 games.

                            It is baffling.

Ah, I thought PSG home was after Southampton, should have been he’s failed to score or assist in 4 of his last 5 then.

Regardless, it doesnt change the point I was making in that his form has fell off a cliff and we are far too reliant on him.

I swear half of you don't watch with your eyes open. Salah has become our Ronaldo. He contributes nothing in closing down or dribbling. He barely completes passes. Then he scores a pen or creates a chance which glosses over that for the majority of the game we are playing with 10 men. Make no mistake without his early season form we ain't winning the league. But right now he's tired and offering nowt. Why does he have to start and nearly always finish every game. He's earnt a rest.

If we bow to his demands and pay him the new contract, surely we need to rotate him to ensure we get prime salah until may next season. Age catches up with everyone eventually. Build a statue of the man. Legend. But use him more sparingly please.
