He's often showing for the ball in tight areas where our player is scared to play it to him.
They just need to trust him a bit more.

Thought he looked to be getting involved more in the second half and showing more positive signs, same as against Arsenal.

Maybe he needs more time than others to settle moving to a new country and league. We don’t know what he’s like away from football.

A midweek champions league game will let him get going in a competition he’s more used to.

Exactly what I was thinking. Each game he plays he gets closer to his real form. And we're losing zero points.

Same reason you've got two love spuds.

I dunno, I saw some other player for us do that recently. It's no big deal - why do we need two?

    Florian Wirtz's transfer fee
The Times reports that Liverpool paid Leverkusen a guaranteed £100m for Wirtz. That will be paid in instalments over four years.

Only through add-ons could that figure have reached a British-record amount. There's a further £16m in those add-ons but they'd only trigger under truly extraordinary circumstances.

It's written that Liverpool would need to win four major trophies before paying all £16m. And by 'major' we mean just the Premier League or UEFA Champions League

In other words, the only way Wirtz's fee would have eclipsed those of Enzo Fernandez or Moises Caicedo is if Liverpool achieved all of their goals. Now, we imagine payments are staggered (as in, likely £4m per major trophy up to a maximum of £16m) but the fact that the Wirtz fee only reached record-breaking levels with otherworldly success is remarkable business.

Richard Hughes started life slowly at Liverpool with a first transfer window that delivered little. This summer, however, has been a masterclass and the final Wirtz fee shows that off brilliantly.

A truly incredible deal for one of the most talented players in world football.

He looked like he was just getting tired and had his hands on his back. He was springing again after that which he wouldn’t have done if there was any issues.

The German attack couldn’t get into the game. The midfield and defence just passed it sideways and backwards for most of the game in slow motion. He also kept moving into spaces then another German player would make the same run and block him off. Very disjointed team with now real flow at all.

    Comment from BBC on Wirtz

Being honest, Florain Wirtz looked like he wouldn't get a game for Dundela most of the night. And then he goes and does that.

He seemed to pull up after a run at around 85 mins, hope it was nothing. Some nice touches, as usual, but didn't pull up any trees. The goalkeeping didn't look totally convincing for the free kick - the commentary made out the ball was moving all over the place, but it appeared straight to me, dipping over the keeper's dive.

The game really opened up when Germany took Woltemade off and injected a bit of pace. He looked just as poor as the times I saw him earlier in the summer for both the U21 and senior teams.
