There will be no panic from me. I thought we looked well at times and overall will be better this season. Players just need to gel. And I still think we will get another forward and another defender.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A bit of patience. We looked slick going forward and the potential is clearly there. Elitike and Wirtz looks so promising.

Did anyone notice Jones channeling his inner Rodri with the high shorts and tucked in shirt?
Yes, someone please tell Jones to not ****ing do that anymore...

          Exactly

Let’s have this conversation in a month of there aren’t any meaningful defensive improvements

Good warm up match practice for Friday. Now the real thing starts and there's no room for f ups. We go properly from here.

Still excited about Ekitike, Wirtz and Mac Allister working together.
            One tit for another.

Having a fully fit Mac and Grav in that midfield is huge. We are still working out the tweaks and as bad as we were in the second half, both Wirtz and Mo missed sitters. Palace looked a bit fitter but that is their team from last year whilst we are still trying to get some continuity. Wirtz and Ekitike looked really sharp in the first half and had some great link up play. Roll on Bournemouth, hopefully see us go full tilt and get the 3 points.

Ekitike had a great chance as well. It could easily have been 3 or 4 before they had their good spell which Slot reacted to and helped stop. They did score still but the changes took away their control.

I can see why Ekitike is being talked about as an option on the left. He naturally drifted that way and looks like he’s got the pace and skill to beat a player and create chances. Excited to see more of him.

I wonder how long Glasner stays at Palace. He’s been very impressive since he took over.

We didn't take the game that seriously. Bigger game next weekend. That's the focus. But the balance of attack and defence isn't right at the moment, that's clear throughout preseason. Mac Alistair will help as will Grav but not on Friday, obviously.

Glazner has done a fantastic job alright, reckon if he gets them into Europe again this season, lot of teams be sniffing around.

Yeah you would think another decent season probably sees him move on in next summer's managerial merry-go-round
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Wirtz is wonderbarr, but he badly faded afer 55 mins, needed that today to get him to get fitter and sharper, same with Hugo as well. Defo need an option up front, thought Gakpo was really really sharp and his movement was brilliant. Slobz ran and ran with little end product, need Maca and Grave back palying well for Newcastle away.
I make no apologies, this is me

That goal from Ekitike and the link up with Wirtz was very tantalising.

I missed the second half but looked a good warm up in advance of the season kicking off on Friday under the lights at Anfield

We’ve got 1 more game to get through without Gravenberch and I think his presence in that midfield is huge. I think he is such an integral part of how we play.

Wharton looks a quality player. I wonder if the club look at him for next season.

Read somewhere that he has an agreement with Palace that he can leave next summer.
