we have the perfect opportunity to try the two lads in the same line up whilst Mo is away & hopefully with no more injuries we start to click and get Isak firing.

Yeah I'm not worried about Isak just yet, obviously the performances are pretty **** and a bit lazy if I'm honest which is my biggest gripe but everything about this transfer has been some messy and fragmentary. We know he is a top class striker, we know he has excelled in the premier league & we know that if he gets service.. he will score. We need to work on the service part & maybe address some of that in the window and then he needs to do his part.

Isak will come good as too good not to, form is temporary whereas class is permanent

I reckon he got inside his own head with the ‘trauma’ of riding out the transfer window to get his move.

Ekitike has such a delightful confidence and swagger about him when he plays that you love to see. Isak needs a bit of that.

Hopefully Isak will come good and if he starts to, then that will be a huge bonus. If he did, then it would be very interesting to see how Arne would get both Ekitike and Isak into the same team. 442 diamond being the most obvious with the players we have at our disposal to be fair.

That has huge potential and might actually be the long term plan all along.....with width coming from the full backs

I think there is a risk that we miss the point regarding pre-season and Isak's issues with us thus far.
Some commentary seems to imply that he should be "pre-seasoned up" by now and therefore able to show his true qualities in games. This ignores the fact that he isn't playing against a stopwatch or training mannequins rather, he is playing with and against other players which have been through preseason and have built their fitness, sharpness and rhythm from that baseline. Just because he completed the preseason part of his overall prep, doesn't mean that he is operating at the same fitness/sharpness levels of his peers and competitors. He will still have a significant amount of catching up to do in order to compete at his level. We might not see the best of him until the second part of this season when he has got some rhythm and fatigue is impacting the rest of the league. Worse still, it might not happen for him until next season if the gap is too far to bridge. All this assumes that a prolonged period of ****ness won't negatively impact him mentally, which would make things worse.
He could really do with a couple of goals and a belting performance every now and then. Starting this weekend against Spurs please.

That’s all fair enough if he was showing signs of improvement, he’s not though and still looks miles away from the player we thought we were getting

Plus he is finding that space and being that calm against for the most part Premier league defences in that video so against the exact same back lines we face.


Which makes what we have seen thus far all the more frustrating (though is not as though the player can help being injured as often as he has for us).

He also created a video showing that Isak was perfect for Liverpool.

I watched quite a few Newcastle games and always kept an eye on Isak and Gordon as we were linked to them both.
Isak may be seen as a tap in merchant but that is far from the truth.
He'd often be seen doing some work on the edge of their box or midfield, intercepting a pass, starting a breakout run and drawing defenders. He would then pass the ball to Gordon or others, who took advantage of the space created, and then arriving in the box for the tap in. He also scored plenty from the edge of the box.

Adam Clery did a great video on this any he would be perfect for us. We just havent seen the old isak or Liverpool for that matter this season
