I will freely admit that I am now one of those terrible football fans who only watches their own team, these days. When I was a kid I had a good idea of the talent around the league, but work and life ultimately got in the way. So - kill me - but I just watched Isak's goal reel for Newcastle - and I appreciate these are just highlights and everything that entails - but my god, this lad can finish. This is an exciting signing. Will it work? Well, if he gets service it will - that type of finishing isn't dependent on team set up.

I don't want this to be a Nunez bashing comment, as the lad did his best, but the difference in composure is night and day. We got near £60m for him in the end and paid £125m for Isak. I think the difference will be worth it.

I'm old. I mostly get excited by the prospect of a good night's sleep these days, but this is exciting..
    Really?

Is it bad I rarely watch football unless we are playing?

In general it is never a good idea to base your signings on who has played well against your own team. That said, if there is one striker that has given Virgil sleepless nights through his quality it is Isak. Not sheer pace, brute strength, incredible aerial ability or propensity for violence. That goal he scored against us where he shot from over 30 yards was a great finish but just as impressive was his movement and his control in order to create the space he needed to shoot. He was so decisive and so precise and in control.

If he fails with us it will be because of injuries and not being able to stay fit, not any lack of ability.
      Never knowingly optimistic

I get that. Isak hasn't flew under my radar though, being in the premierleague and scoring some bangers against us. Some 21yo from benfica then yeah, i've a family - i ain't got time for that ****.

What has surprised me though is his elite numbers in dribbling and what not. Like we think of Salah as being 'decent' but the numbers don't back that up at all.

If he carries on as he has done for Newcastle he'll go up levels organically, given we create more and have the ball more.

I’m intrigued to see if Isak gets pens. He’s a big money signing and ultimately will be judged on goals. If he does it also kind of ties in with Salah’s comments on being focussed towards team.

If we are sharing the goals about as opposed to basically relying on one guy it is a massive step forward.
          Modifying post.

I think Mo missing his last 2 pens might make it easier for him to relinquish that responsibility. Dom has a great record too from memory

I actually hadn't seen all his goals, some incredible movement and close control, and what clinical finishing...

I'm just happy he doesnt do the 400 little steps before taking a penalty.

It's a little weird how our biggest signing ever has only just reached page 2

Everyone must have been really sick of the long drawn out saga & now it's Isak is here...!

                          ....Whatever
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

                          F*** off!!!

Very instinctual striker. Always seems to know where to be and finds himself right where the ball breaks and it’s not an accident.

Interesting in the video that he’s very much a penalty box finisher. With the fullbacks we have, Gakpo, Mo, Alexis, Dom, Jones and Wirtz he will get plenty of great service.

                              Aye, not a chance.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
