    LC Southampton @home Tuesday 23td Sept 8pm

Thoughts? I think Endo was marked harshly, probably because of his misplaced header that led to their goal. Other than that I thought he got better after an understandably rusty start

Is that from the bbc? I don’t think they use statistics to rate the players, I prefer who scored as they use statistics to provide ratings

Taken from Slot’s presser. I wonder who exactly he was talking about in bold.

Arne Slot has singled out Federico Chiesa for his hard-working performance in #LFC's win over Southampton after the Italian recorded two assists.

️ "What I always want to see is players that try and work hard. So I said at half-time, for me it is completely not a coincidence that Federico picked the ball and assisted on the first [goal] because he was the one, in my opinion, that was most involved in the game, tried the most, worked the hardest.

️ "And then it wasn’t a coincidence again that he was the man that made a deep run, great ball by Robbo, by the way – who also has won so much at this club and also understands how to play this game: not underestimate it, just always be ready to play.

️ "That’s also the way to get yourself either back in the team or get as much playing minutes as you want. That’s why I was happy with a few individual performances but far from happy with a few other individual performances."

My guesses for the "far from happy" would be Gomez, Frimpong and quite possibly young Rio.

They doubled up on Rio so it was understandably a tough night for a 17 year old. The other two definitely & Endo started sloppy but improved except for the 50 cent piece header

                Slapped wrist for Hugo lol

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

I think we were all hoping for a big game from Rio but it’s very different starting to coming on against tired defenders. That’s where he’ll make the most impact right now. I wouldn’t criticism him as he’s not played many games and is still learning. He looked in two minds at times about taking on the defence or playing it back to Robertson or someone else.

Nyoni looks like a player who will always do the simple things well and keep possession and the ball moving. Right now that’s what he should be doing rather than trying to do too much especially with plenty of senior players around him. Let him learn his role and do the basics right and grow with experience. There is often a lot done off the ball that isn’t noticed and just because he doesn’t make huge runs or make defence splitting passes doesn’t mean what he’s doing is very important to the team.

Yeah but there were plenty of times he had an opportunity to run at their RB but delayed. This delay gave the second player time to come across which then resulted in him cutting inside or playing it back.

Endo was being pretty unfairly buffeted the entire game. Ref should have called a few frees.

When Chiesa moved to the left, the first time he got the ball he immediately ran at their RB, played a 1-2 and got past him and then put in a great cross before the second defender got near

I think sometimes we jump the gun on the youngsters, Rio looks a talent but you could see last night exactly what to do against him, the saints lads bounced him around the place & he looked a bit flustered and lacking ideas. It's early days for the kid, a few cameos and maybe we'll see more of him next season if he progresses. I thought Frimpong, Nyoni & Gomez were poor last night too. These fringe players won't do themselves any favors putting in shifts like that.

I thought Nyoni was much better second half (first half was poor), seemed to relax a bit which gave him a bit more time.

Martin: Surely a second yellow for non-dangerous behaviour could result in a sending off, but not a ban? It punishes the offence within its context, but doesn't penalise where the deterrent or educational impact of the sentence is unnecessary.
