Tricky away match but at least we rested players tonight. A win here would really put Arsenal under early pressure.

Ali
Bradley Konate VVD Kerkez
Gravenberch Dom
Wirtz
Mo Chiesa Gakpo
I don’t know who starts and who comes on between Isak and Chiesa. I’d probably start Chiesa and use Isak off the bench as Chiesa has earned a start after tonight.
There is so much flexibility in the squad so plenty of options to change the game and they’ve all had a really tough run out to get to get them more match sharp. It’s why that type of game might have been more beneficial in some ways to an easy win.
And yeah let’s win this and put the pressure right on Arsenal and see how they deal with it away to Newcastle. Test Arteta out and his willingness to go for a win or play it safe.

I’d like to see us try Wirtz as a false 9 for this one, keep Chiesa as an option from the bench. I think we will need a midfield 3 of Gravenberch, Alexis and Dom as Palace have a strong midfield that over ran us at times in the charity shield ( we were missing Grav and Alexis for that one)Last edited by rudedog; 24-09-25, 12:45 AM.

I think Wirtz may get more space as either a fase 9 or LW.
Hard to guess what Slot will do though. Isak may or may not start, and He likes Gakpo down the left.
If I had to put money on it, I reckon Slot will start him at AMC though. Dom will probably start in Maccas position.
I remember when we had to work out whcih **** player would fill in where. Now its which world class player to drop.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I think that side just about picks itself except I’d start Isak if he pulled up ok & give him 45-60 mins. Chiesa actually played the full 90 so it might be too much to demand from him just yet.Originally posted by peterbread View PostAli

Alisson
Szobo Konate VVD Kerkez
Grav Macca
Wirtz
Salah Isak Gakpo
I reckon we'll see this for the first 65, Chiesa for Isak, Frimpong for Wirtz and maybe Jones for Macca.
This is a really difficult match so I can see Dom starting at right back or Wirtz at LW with Dom in the AM position, probably see Frimpong at right back then. Isak will start for sure.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Not sure. That completely flips the planning gong forward and he can probably only do 60 mins tops at this stage.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostIsak will start now, then Ekitike starts on Tuesday.
Palace apparently unbeaten in 19 so a big challenge at a ground where it is never less than very tough.
I think we'll stick to the plan layed out for Isak and he'll remain a second half sub for this one..

Much better to start him than bring him on, that's why he's started the games against AM and last night. He gets a proper warm up with the physios which he can't do during the game.Originally posted by Mark79 View PostNot sure. Ergo, he'll start at the weekend. Nailed on.

I think it will be a version of this as well, but for me with Bradley at RB and Szob instead of MaccaOriginally posted by The_weatherman View PostAlisson

He's been alternating so far. The plan would definitely have been not to start v Palace.Originally posted by labourRed View PostMuch better to start him than bring him on, that's why he's started the games against AM and last night. Depends how disruptive they think switching things would be.
I wouldn't rule oit the chance he now starts, but I wouldn't say nailed on either way..

Don’t think it makes a massive amount of difference tbh, at least in terms of his fitness integration.Originally posted by Mark79 View PostHe's been alternating so far. The plan would definitely have been not to start v Palace.

I was 50/50 about who starts but i think we’ll be good either way. I was wondering if Chiesa playing the full 90 might mean Isak starts and that’s why Isak only played 45 and not 60.
I have no idea which way he’ll go but the rest of the team picks itself. I was leaning more towards Chiesa because he played so well that he deserved another start and the confidence he’d take from the backing from Slot would only help him build on last night.
The good thing they’ve had a good week off and will be ready to go and the others have had a proper competitive 90 to get them in better shape.

Isak starts this surely.
Huge game (aren't they all) and I reckon a late late show won't cut it here as they are a clever team. I can see Guehi being man of the match here too!!! It is written!!!
Plus the fact that their fixtures have been kind in the run up to this game will help them big time. No game mid week, only away to West Ham last Saturday so no real travel and Millwall before that so again local.
If we win this game, then we win the league imo.

To be fair, the same could be said for us. We have had our last three games all being in Liverpool so no travel.
Plus we rested pretty much our entire starting XI on Tuesday so our starters will have had as much of a break as those at Palace.
They do have a good team though. They have that nice blend of quality individuals who can influence a game whilst still always being able to put out an XI that will work hard as a unit. Not for nothing are they the only other unbeaten side in the league.
Think they are also unlucky to be a point behind second place as they really should have put Sunderland away imo.
Am expecting a tight game but kind of happy it is at their place as my impression of them (rightly or wrongly) is that they tend to play a much higher line at home (maybe is tactical, maybe is because of having a home crowd roaring them on) and as such we might have a tiny bit more room to attack into than if the game was at Anfield.
Did notice that this season they seem to have a trait in common with us as in going into the lead and then being clawed back. Has happened in three of their five games so far. Two of those ended in a draw and one they managed to come back and win in.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness
