Paul Doyle, who had said he was pleading not guilty, has just pleaded guilty to all charges for what he did on the day of the parade.

Paul Doyle has pleaded guilty to ploughing his car into a dense crowd of supporters at the Liverpool FC victory parade.

The 54-year-old admitted dangerous driving, affray, 17 charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, nine counts of causing GBH with intent and three counts of wounding with intent.

The Crown Prosecution Service said it was an "act of calculated violence" when Doyle drove into the crowd on the evening of the 26 May, injuring more than 130 people.

The father-of-three, of Croxteth, Liverpool, sat with his head down and sobbed as he changed his pleas on the second day of his trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Dec 15-16 is his sentencing, where hopefully there will be some more detals on wny he did what he did

Interesting to see that the dangerous driving charge was taken from his own address, not just Dale Street / Water Street where the incidents occurred. This was because he was caught out by his own dashcam footage.

The judge commented on the dashcam footage and said that it showed that rather than his actions being a spur of the moment thing, that the footage showed him escalating and becoming more enraged over a prolonged period of time and that the footage showed dangerous levels of intent.

Sounds simple enough. He couldnt get to where he wanted, was being blocked off by heaps of people, raged and just plowed through like they were the problem not him. Send him to jail for 20 years and ban him ever owning a license again. If I was overlord I'd bring back public square hangings but some people call me extreme. Pfft.

You are probably not far off the sentence that he will receive I think. Gbh can be up to 16 years and he has a load of them now!!!!

I've not watched the dash cam or anything but he must have done the whole Micheal Douglas falling down thing......I was sure he'd be assessed as mentally ill.

I would be surprised if he got anywhere close to 20 years, even with the cumulative effect.

A quick Google search only gives a confirmed stat in 2020 of a little under 5 years for Death by Dangerous Driving, a figure estimated to be closer to 7 years today.

I may be mistaken but I am not aware of anyone suffering life changing (physical at least) injuries. As scary as it was and the numbers that it impacted I think he'll end up with about 6 to 8 years, maybe 10-12 at most.

The judge warned him that he was facing a very long sentence some weeks back.

It was just pure luck that he did not kill a a large number of people.

Judge has said he will serve atleast 2/3s of it.
