Marseille away Wednesday 21st January at 8pm

I feel like Slot is on a slippery slope & a loss here will have him looking over his shoulder if he isn’t already. We really should win this but the same was said of yesterday. I imagine Mo will come back into contention for this one but which version of him we get is anyone’s guess.

    Ali

Jones , Gomez , Virg, Robbo

    Dom , Macca , Trey

    Mo , Ekitike , Wirtz
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I reckon he will be on the bench.

I know there have been a lot of draws, but since Salah has been dropped we have gone 11 games in a row without loss.

The football has not been great at times (a lot of times ) but we are defo more solid with him out of the team.

Marseilles are not bums this season and have quite a bit of pace mixed in through their starting XI so we, imo, don't need Salah on the right if he is in a half track back kind of mood.

Happy to continue not watching us and all the grief that accompanies it. Easy win for Marseille

Well that's a nailed on win for us then, probably by two or three goals.

Marseille are currently 3rd in the French league so definitely no bums. They have scored 41 & conceded 19 in 18 matches so we know they can score against their own but they manage to concede a goal a game so it might be an open match which definitely suits us.

              Why?

Kerkez was solid and has started linking really well with Wirtz, Dom and Ekitike. He's looking more and more like the player we bought with each game IMO.

Our left side was noticeably worse when Robbo came on IMO. He gave the ball away several times in quick succession.

I agree about Kerkez. On Premier Sports at the weekend, Damien Delaney was pointing out how much Gakpo slows down our attacking play and that Kerkez kinda doesn't know what to do when he plays the ball to him as overlapping him is a waste of time and energy 99% of the time.

Yeah I've been a big critic of Kerkez but he has put in some better performances recently imo, so makes sense to keep playing him.

Biggest problem Kerkez has seems to be that he is invisible to Gakpo. He constantly makes runs both inside and outside Gakpo and the ball rarely finds him as Gakpo has slowed down and gone inside and played it sideways.

Watch Kerkez when Ekitike, Wirtz, Jones or Szobo drift left. Suddenly there is link up play and he gets found when he makes runs and he shows as an outlet for those players to play a qucik one two with.

There is a very good player in Kerkez I think, we just need to make use of him more.

I'd put Gakpo at LB and Kerkez at left wing since Gakpo does **** all lol

We do better with teams that want to take the game to us.

Only reason I suggested starting Robbo over Kerkez was rotation. We’ve got 9 games in January & we need the squad.

Unbelievable how obvious this is, playing Gakpo hamstrings our left side essentially. He's so predictable, really like Kerkez recently and I have a feeling Xabi would love him.
