I know lfc have left the likes of Gini, Bobby and even Trent run their contracts down.....but surely doing that with the head coach isn't possible because of the uncertainty with any signings etc....

So the fact that he has one year left on his deal mean that lfc have to act in my opinion- either extend or sack.

The fact that Alonso is free makes this a straight forward one imo. Especially the fact that he is doing nothing now. I reckon AS will be gone as soon as our season is over and XA will then be in place to have a full summer to prep.

If this is the case, then Arne will already know - as he will be not having the same planning discussions as last year.

to the highlighted bit. I reckon he is gone in the summer if he does not win the CL. Think winning the CL is Slot's only chance, and I say chance rather than thinking it would be certain, of getting a year added to his contract.

Had been thinking that finishing in a CL slot and maybe winning the FA cup would do it, but even if we did that I am now not so sure that would be enough.



Though I do think managers running down contracts will become as common as players doing it. Look at Glasnar at Palace. He is doing exactly that. The manager cannot really lose doing it either. The club fires him early and he gets a big pay out, he stays to the end and he gets a bigger fee from his next club. Same as with a player really.

Salah was diabolical again last night. This really can't go on any longer. Now Frimpong is back I expect to see him start on the right with everyone else in their favoured positions. I'd also like to see Jones start in place of Macca for the time being. I don't know what's happened to that lad but his fall off has been dramatic, as evidenced by his showing last night.

On a positive note, I thought Marmadashvili looked very good. Did everything with no drama and pulled off a few good saves/clearances. The defence do need to wrap their heads around him being left footed though, as opposed to Ali being a right footer. He was put under unnecessary pressure at times last night due passes going to his weaker foot. Need to sort that for the next time he plays.

He was the difference between a 1-0 loss and a 3-0 one imo.



Great point about him being a leftie, we are playing balls to his right foot constantly since he joined. Makes him look worse on the ball and forces him to kick off balance.

His passing and kicking game would be 100% better if more balls were played to his stronger side when we look to back pass to him.

Looking at old footage of him playing in La Liga, which I did after reading your post, you can see the centre backs and full backs playing balls to his left foot in the clips and him then being able to kick or pass from a natural position.

We did go the CL Final in 2022. A 2-0 semi-final at Anfield vs Villarreal missing from that sequence.
