    Team for 26/27

I'm sure there was a thread discussing this but I cannae find it

What do people think our team should look like?

For me, much depends on whether we want Hugo and Isaak to play in the same team. If so:

    Ekitike - Isak
    Wirtz ----------------- Szoboslai
    Gravenberch -- Mac Allister
    Kerkez -- VVD -- Konate -- Frimpong
    Allison

Would mean Kerkez and Frimpong supplying the width with Grav and Alexis covering when they do

Or if we are going to stick with 433/4231 Hugo and Rio either side of Isak? With Alexis dropping to the bench

    Ekitike - Isak - Rio
    Wirtz
    Gravenberch - Szoboslai
    Kerkez -- VVD -- Konate -- Frimpong
    Allison

I do think we'll replace Salah, so that might well determine what our first eleven looks like next season

I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

I’d have Conor at right back, Dom with Grav and Frimpong further forward. But who knows what our squad will look like next season.
    Never knowingly optimistic

IMO we need a proper #6 and 2 wingers.

I don't think we see Isak and Ekitike play together much, I think it's an either or in terms or starts maybe you get both on when we are chasing the game but other than that I don't see it much. You are looking at the start of the season probably expecting to play 55-60 games that's 5000-5500 mins No idea what stats guys would say but I would probably say about 3500 mins each I'd probably where you would want to be. If we want to play 2 strikers regularly we need more that 2 strikers.

Rio is still going to have his minutes managed heavily so at best I think you consider him largely a back up or rotation option. I don't see the sense in playing Wirtz or Szoboszlai out wide.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

        And arguably 1-2 centre backs

We're OK for centre backs, if no-one leaves.

We do need a right back though.

We would have a still good but very much on the slide in his last season VVD who comes with the risk his form may fall off a cliff all of a sudden given his age.

            A very inconsistent Konate.

An injury prone in his last season Gomez.

Two young centre backs, one new to the league/country and one coming back from a season ending injury without having had enough time to settle in the team beforehand.

At the very least we would need one quality CB coming in, one that would potentially be good enough to replace VVD at the end of that season.

Someone like Geertruida would be my shout for that RB spot, if we were being careful with our cash, given he could also cover CB and DM, he could be the new Gomez in terms of being able to cover a lot of positions but also have the quality to compete with either of Bradley or Frimpong for being the starter RB.

I dunno. Evey CB we have is ****ed in some way, either injury, age or form.

Mark79 drinks a lot of Monster energy drinks these days, so don't pay much heed to what he says. The constant comparisons to the vastly superior Mark3 broke him a long time ago.

Just say "Good job, buddy" whenever he posts and he will be fine.

It's still 5 CBs we have, whatever the fears about form, age or fitness. We're not likely bringing in another, unless 1 departs.

We're already invested in Virgil for one more season and he's still the best CB in the league, just not by the same margin as before.

If Konate goes, then we should bring in another starter quality CB. But if we give him the big new contract he's looking for, then we're backing him to overcome his consistency issues of this season in preference to putting those wages to a replacement.

If Gomez goes, then at best we replace him with another squady.

I'd like the RB to be a first choice, long term signing for that position, but if they can also cover CB too then great (not Geertruida though, I think he's stop gap/squady level at best).

Links to David Ruam as a Robertson replacement. No idea who he is but he plays as left back or left midfielder. Sounds like a wingback.

Add in links to van Hecke and Senesi and news from reliable French journalists that Konate is close to a new deal.

                        Plenty of CB’s and wingbacks

in FM i brought in sven botman, mostly because i had a chuckle at newcastle's expense, and for 40 mil why the hell not, brought in schlotterbeck too.

been having a grand time with a narrow 4-3-3 with wirtz and kulusevski as the advanced midfielders. totteringham went down so i grabbed him and bergvall.

Marcos Senesi on a free. Could be a good bit of business if true.
